Ok now that's out of the way. Honestly you could build a reliable DSM but you're going to be looking at putting a bit of money into it to get there. They're fun, fast cars that will break if you drive them hard and not keep up with maintaining them.
i kinda seem to want one a lot less now
Soo how many people personally know someone with crank walk? anyone?
It's ONLY true 2G cars, 99.9% manual, and 90% of those usually have extremely high pressure clutch setups like greater than a ACT2600 or more.
Take a 2G 7 bolt motor, machine it for squirters, use the revised bearing, and keep the clutch pressure reasonable. problem solved.
or just run an auto. they'll handle a TON of power. more than the manuals.
Srt4 is a negative..no skittle
alright, i found a couple of threads on the talon and it was a turnoff. most of the people on there had a talon they were working on or gave up on. the few that had ones running said they thanked god when it started.
the thread was called "what did you do to your talon today" there was some funny#### on there.
so im thinking grand prix again, even thoght i cant drive through town without seeing at least five of them.
i just need a car thats reliable and taken care of. so grand prix it is.
Then get something and don't mod it......
The DSM hate from some here is HILARIOUS. As has been said DSM's are as reliable as the owner. Parts are cheap and they go fast easily. I had a 93 with minor mods and it was fast as hell. I did lean it out on a speed run and effed up the compression rings. That was my fault for not looking more into the settings on the SAFC that the previous owner had put in.
Even with 60 psi on all 4 cylinders that car would still crush most cars it ran up against.
Now, if you are looking for a daily driver, you don't want a modded DSM unless you are vigilant in your tune and don't beat on it. That actually goes for any car.
There's a saying in the world of cars.
1. Cheap
2. Reliable
3. Fast
You only get to choose two. That goes for any car.
