This is the million dollar question! i have the same problem

Exactly lol, trying to get opinions on which to get. If the possibility happens. I want the t-tops the pop up lights and that SEXY ass face of the Trans Am, the Ram Air. But I also want the slow looking goat that can haul ass when need be and beat up on other people without them realizing exactly what I got under the hood. Its either you get low looks but amazing performance with the GTO or you get the looks and good performance with the WS6. Why are such things so harsh..... Or you could always buy both. Drive which one you are feeling that day lol.
My 2 cents.....
If the car is going to see a bunch of DD use, go with the goat. There should be no question about that. If you plan on it being a drag car, I'd go with the WS6. Besides what other's have mentioned, don't forget you'll more then likely have to roll the fenders to get some decent width in the rear. As far as looks go, I honestly prefer the low profle look of the GTO. Although I would swap the hood and rear from the 05-06. Which ever you get, obviously shoot for the 6 speed. IMO, you can't really go wrong with either one, both are bad ass cars.
I want to say ws6, but I hate hideaways. LS2 goat all the way. Run and tell that. Lol
BTW: i beat an LS1 goat. at a track. no lie, guy needed a driver mod though.
04 Gto is ugly. Single exhaust, and scoopless hood, I would never own one. So in this case WS6
If you want an 05 or 06 GTO it will cost some more pennys. But the 04 is priced about the same. And I hate the steering wheel of the GTO. I guess I would go with WS6 at this point. Looks better, T-tops, Monsoon, and about the same performance.
Looks are subjective. The Trans Am is cheaper, faster (weighs less), and t-tops are a cool bonus. If you're looking for performance on a budget, look no further than an LS1 f-body.
That being said, if I could afford it, I'd get a GTO. You won't have as many squeaks and rattles and stuff that you'd get with an f-body, and the interiors are sooo much better. And they handle pretty well for being as heavy as they are.
Have you considered a C5? They are cheap these days. And like Slowpoke said a few posts ago, no matter what car you buy, make sure you get a 6-speed. Automatics suck.
