98 Regal GS 11 Aril 2011 GAME OVER.

Car burnt down at around 1020 last night. Got home from walmart to get a few things then went back out side and called 911. I was going to go back outside to get some paperwork I need in the center councel and seen smoke comming from both sides and the front of the hood. Basically called 911 and watch my car burn down. Here are the pics.

FML Just got the 18s put on and a new drivers side door and the drivers side fender was still in primer from putting the new parts on after I got hit by a mini van in the middle of Feb.

Wow, that Sux man, I'm sorry for your loss. Hope no one was hurt. Any idea what caused the fire?

Have no idea what caused the engine fire forsure. Man I still have parts at the damn post office I havnt even picked up I just got a HVAC controlled becasue mine was blowing cold on the drivers side. I have a brand new front bumper, good rear bumper from a yard, HID kits for the headlights and fogs, Gen5, IS3 cam with 3.4 zzp pulley setup, speedbuilt sways and my oem wheels and tires in the garage. Them 18s had like 1000 miles on them if that. Hope I can keep the wheels, eibach springs, ZZP trailing arms, taking my headunit and kicker door speakers out of the car also. Will have what I can strip up forsale for dirt cheap down the road.

That blows, but count your blessings. It happened when nobody was in it and it was at the house, driving down the highway @ 70mph with a car full of people can spell disaster when a fire starts and everything malfunctions

^^^^^ X2 I found the paperwork I have from when I bought the car saying the warranty work was done for the valvecover gasket recall. I dont know what else Im going to do yet. Thinking I should have someone come look at it and determine the cause of the fire. My wife works for a lawfirm and so does my sister. I dont know if anything would ever happen or if its even worth it but it pisses me off the cars history.

I dont even know what I should do with it. Keep it and find another regal, part it sell it to a junk yard I dont know. I still have a ton of parts for it in my garage that makes it even worse.

Think the wheels should be ok along with the eibach springs and the zzp trailing arms, taking my cd player and door speakers out too.

That stinks, another fire. Your's looks like it was burning alot more forward though. All I've seen were right on top of the engine and even getting hot enough to melt the top aluminum mount. Havn't seen any burn the bumper without making it to more of the car. Your's might of been the front valve cover leaking, but hard to imagine oil catching fire before leaking fuel like most. It's got to be the injectors or the fuel line o-rings on top of the supercharger. Mine used to have a puddle on top of the supercharger before I replaced them. Like others said, at least you weren't in it. These fires seem to happened right after parking the car.

There was a trail of fluid behind me and the Fire Marshall from Grand Forks here where I live is blaming it on a failed powersteering line that caused it. The powersteering is very close to the rear manifold on the right side of the car. I think this is pretty acurate becasue I added powersteering fluid earlier yesturday with a long funnel when it was whining a little. I think the return line ruptured and sprayed power steering fluid all over. If Im not mistaken there are only hose clamps comming off the return line below the resivor. I dont think it was the supply line becasue the steering wasnt getting hard or acting weird when I was driving home at all. I think it was the return line and when I pakred the car the exhaust manifold was hot enought to start the fluid on fire. I think Im going to get what I can out of the car tonight and switch the wheeels and throw the 16s back on and tow it to my grandpas tomorrow. I have some door speakers and a HU I need to get out of the inside. Once I get it to my grandpas Im going to take the AGX/Eibachs off and put the oem crap I took off back on it so at least the car will roll around. I think the AGX struts are history but I might keep the Eibach springs.

Its gonna be a long week.............................

The fluid leaking might just be coincidental. If it was from powersteering fluid, I would think there would be more burnt towards the back of the engine bay.

I pulled the powersteering cap off last night and its completly full. Now I dont think it was powersteering! More like electrical or something most of the fire seems like it was up front by the battery and fuse box. The car was bone stock besides suspensions my 18s, a cd player and door speakers I put in. Its not like I had a big system or something so I dont know what caused the fire at all now!

it was PROVEN those gasket recals didnt fix it. then they removed the spark plug retainers iirc correctly. i havent even done my recall because i dont trust them STEALERships.

anyways, time to move on. glas noone was hurt, too bad for the car, i was looking forward to seeing it built.

sorry about the Regal... But you could turn it into the ultimate tailgating machine now.

Grill/cooler like that superbowl Commercial..

Also turn the shortblock into a living room/garage table (clean it first!) piston holes make good wine bottle holders.

I don't think his was the injector O-rings. His looks like the fuel line O-rings. And they line up perfect to spray all over the front of the car. I think everyone should check them. When i first got my cars they both had puddles on top of the supercharger cause they were leaking so bad. After I changed their O-rings, no more puddle. Using a pick set, the first set took me a while, but on the second car, it took me about 15 minutes. It's a tedious task, but they haven't leaked since. I think this is more the issue, when I was first looking at the fuel lines, I called a GM dealership to find out how much they would be. Can't remember the number, but it was in the hundreds. I can see why they blamed it on something cheaper.
