While I do prefer v8's to boosted 4 bangers, the little 4 cylinder engines have a pretty good thing goin for them as far as consumer vehicles go. When you lay off the gas you get great gas mileage, but if you need the power it's there when you step on it. Not to mention the fact that the engines (and usually the vehicles themselves) are smaller and weigh less so it doesn't take as much power to move them. It's like a double-whammy.
Still though, I look at Hondas and other boosted 4 banger cheapo cars as a way of just going fast. To me it's like "big deal you took a tin can and boosted it", because they're just made for going fast but aren't actually "nice cars" per se. To me, going fast like that on the cheap is just rice. It's like NOS vs legitimate go-fast parts (aka gifts that keep on giving -- non-consumable). Kinda hard for me to explain, but the perfect expression will come. And when it does, it will sting like the bee! (kudos to whoever gets the bee reference)
