I am sure there is probably thread on this somewhere, but I couldn't find it. But I received my ligitation papers a few weeks back and I was going over it.

I had originally owned back in 2001 a 1997 Grand Prix GT that actually was one of those that had the gaskets blow in the engine. I had Randy Marion Pontiac in Mooresville NC do the work on the car back in December of 01. They replaced ALL the gaskets from the Lower Manifold all the way up. It cost me near $950 bucks for the repair.

That fix lasted about 1 month till the car started over heating again in January of 2002. I took it back in and they replaced the Tstat and hoses on the car to try and further fix the problem. Well the next day after picking up the car, it started doing the same thing again. The motor was shot, the Service Department's last measure to correct the problem would have been a complete motor replacement. And seeing that this was on my dime, I could not justify spending that much money, I had already spent almost $1,200 on the intial two repairs, and I was not about to spend another $3,000 on a new engine.

So I went back to the dealership where I got the car from and pitched a huge ***** about it. I wound up getting a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT inplace of the GP.

So I was reading over the litigation papers and had to go search out my information on the old GP. I called Randy Marion to see if they still had my service record on file, but they said they already purged the records. I was like great! And of course the Credit Card I used back then, I no longer have, so any documentation to state the exact dollar amount was not available. So I asked the service manager there what that repair would cost and he stated between $800-900 dollars. And I then asked him about the cost for the second repairs I had done to try and correct the issue, he stated around $200-400 depending on the man hours put in to replace the T Stat and Radiator piping and hoses.

I then had to try and contact the NC DMV to locate my VIN information and my old insurance company out there as well to put on the claim form. I called the Litigation office handling the Dex Cool suit and spoke with this one lady who said I am eligible for 2 claims, for both repairs I did to the car, so she is sending me out another claims packet. She was very informative and provided me with a quite a bit of information in regards to the suit and the proper course of action I should take in regards to filing my claim.

I am just curious if anyone else has had these sort of problems with their current or old GP's in regards to the Dex Cool issue? It will be interesting to see what, if any, kind of money I receive back in regards to the repair work I had done on the car.

They list several classes for our cars, Group A is 1995-2003 Pontiacs with the 3.1 or 3.4L V6 Engines and then Group B is 1995 to 2004 for Pontiacs with the 3.8L V6.

If you have not received anything in reference to this Litigation, I would suggest calling their toll free number. 1-866-245-4291 and request a litigation packet.

Just thought I would share this with the community

I do believe you are still entitled to a refund for the funds and time needed to complete the repair work.

I would honestly suggest you might wanna call and check. It cant hurt

My car was over heating and I had the Dex cool flushed out and put in regular antifreeze. In April. It's been in the body shop ever since. Got it back tonight!

I'm gonna call. I did it myself and if I can get even just the money for parts, I'm happy.

We paid ~ $800 to have the gaskets replaced on the 02 Venture 3.4l. Afrer i read through everything, the money we would get back isn't worth filing the paperwork.
