So i decided to to change trans fluid and filter in the 05 today... i went to advance and bought a 15qt oil catch pan and everything else i needed. i get home and pull the car on the ramps, put pan under trans pan and loosen bolts. when i got a decent flow of fluid i said ok and went inside while it drained. i come outside 15-20 minutes later and my drive way has a trans fluid river... i mean seriously.. its alotttttttt of fluid... so much that the fluid has a current its going so fast down my driveway. im like i get under car and tighten bolts to stop the last lil bit of fluid from draining in my driveway. i pull the catch pan out and theres a quarter sized hole that appears it was done by the factory in the bottom of pan. its a clean cut hole. i didnt catch it at first while i was under the car cuz the pan is recessed and filled up what it could until it reached the hole. i called advance and told them what had happened and they brought me a new pan and a huge bag of oil dry for free. my next step is calling the manufacturer and demand money to pay for someone to come clean my driveway. pretty sure its gonna have a nice stain after all said and done.

its worth a shot. im going to contact manufacturer of the drain pan and do some *****in. advance brought me a new pan and oil dry so i cant really blame them. they just sell the pans. but yea it sucks.. if youve ever dropped tranny pan u know how much fluid it is.

I kind of did the same think but I forgot to uncork the drain inlet on the catch pan and had used oil all over my garage floor. At least when you wipe up the trans fluid it will be clean!

What brand is it? So I can tell others to either check it good, or don't buy it at all.

For my tranny filter/fluid changes I use the top of a 55 gallon plastic barrel. I measured from the top, and cut it at around 5" or so. Sealed the drain plugs, its a bad ass drain pan. I used to use the bottoms, but once cut, they would curl on you, and it would rock when placed on the ground. The top of the barrels are built thicker, and stronger. I got my barrel for free, but you can find them on Craig's List all the time for like $5.00

Hands down, I think its better than any catch pan you can buy.

i'll second that, i really love when the dip stick reads the lower hash mark, and it take 2 gallons to top off.
