Ok i want to buy a Grand prix GTP or GXP, but which one is a better car? The GXP i like because it looks cool, has a great top speed stock, faster than the GTP stock, has like 6 lights in the front(headlights, fog, turn signals) and really good MPG. The GTP i like too because i mean really who does not like the S/C whine? Also it is fast and its a great car when modded but i dont think ill mod until like way later in the future. really so my question is how good is the Grand prix GTP as far as it being a great, fast, fuel efficient, cool 4 door car. also another thing if i wanted to buy a old one lie between 2000-2004 is it good if it is over 100k as far as its been kept in good condition and i will defiantly take care of it really really well, its like part of the family. i want one car thats fast, safe for anyone in car, and good for the MPG since of the gas prices right now, and one thats worth spending like 5k-10k.

Also they say there is not much mods for the GXP so have fast can it be in 1/4mile race with all and any mods out there for it installed.

under 30 MPG highway isn't really good by todays standards.

I've never seen a GXP go for less than 10 grand.

    Go drive both.

GTP's are pretty good cars. I think the 3.8 is easy to work on....I've never driven a GXP so I can't say anything about those, all I know is I sure as hell wouldn't want to be putting the gas in one of those today

grand prixs are good drivers cars. but are by no means fast..stock. evan with the blown 3.8 its still just a family sedan....or coupe if your cool like me. neither gtp or gxp are good on gas, but ill venture to say that gtps would be better at the pump. if you do plan on modding the better car would probably be the gtp because mods are cheap and there is a decent aftermarket supporting them. what ive heard about gxps is the mods are limited and are expensive. i know your probably hoping to hear words of encouragement, and soon find your way into a performance car for under 12k, but you wont. if you want a fast four door that can take your kids to shcool and haul ass on a track you should probably look elsewhere. if you want a car that will get you gratifying looks from kids and women, you should probably look elsewhere. if you want a car with more metal than plastic....well you get where this is going.

they are good-ish cars thats it.

The GXP is a fun car to drive. Gotta love the engine, I hear it has LS6 heads. It does ride more harsh than the GTP. GXP mileage is rated 18/28.
2002 GTP: K&N, 3.2 pulley, flipped mounts. ZZP SS headers, 180 stat, NGK TR6's, MSD wires, Reptile ported TB, ported S/C, ported LIM, Intense Stage II heads with larger Manley severe duty SS valves, Yella Terra 1.9 full roller rockers, LS6 springs, Racetronix fuel pump re-wire, Oil pressure "kit", JMB FWI. Mustang dynoed at 240 WHP, 272 WTQ.

I agree the gxp is a little faster but its still a v8 and they do like tk eat gas. I have a 98 gtp and they are pretty quick and not too bad on gas. I live being that four door gtp that can whoop on those ricer kids who think they are fast. All in all is say get yourself the gtp good on gas pretty quick and when/if u decided to start nodding the gtp is a better bet plus they pretty insane if u mod them the right way.

with the gtp you have to run 91 or higher im not sure about the gxp. however my gtp stock got about 30 mpg hwy stock and im at about 33 now, if you do minor exhaust and intake work ont he gtp you get good gas milage

    Fuel efficient
    Cool looking
    Sedan
    Fast
    Cheap/easy to mod

It's extremely difficult to get all these things in one package, especially in the 5-10K range. That being said, the GTP does all these things as good or better then any other car make this side of BMW. (note:BMWs are NOT cheap to mod) If heavy modding is important to you, get a GTP. Lets be honest though, "most" people aren't going mod beyond some exhaust work, and some air induction mods. If this is you, I'd get a GXP. My reason, sound. It doesn't matter how quick a GTP is, it will still sound like ****, IMO of course. If fuel efficiency is a big deal, I would look elsewhere. These cars aren't terrible, but you'll find my more miles out of a gallon in several other 4 cylinder sedans now days.

You want to mod, and whoop some ass at the track? Then turn around and take the family to the grocery store? Then the GTP is the one for you.

Only want to lightly mod an already decently quick sedan? Then take your family to the store, and sound sexy doing it? You'll want a GXP.

EDIT: how the hell did I manage to get a post in here before beastly?

My mom has one, that's how I know I'm right. Here: "That's why producing 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg of mileage on the highway won't be a problem for the Pontiac Grand Prix GXP." 2009 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP - PureHonda.com

LMAO on the last 2 comments but ok i see that the GTP and GXP are great cars but not super great. i say i would go for the GTP because well its a great car, decent MPG, good speed and when modded ive seen a modded GTP take on a Lambo. Really i wont be able to spend a lot but i think ill go for a GTP. Reason why i asked this question is because i would love a car thats a 4 door, fast, and good on mpg. i know its hard to find one that narrowed down really i have done some research in the passed which led me back to pontiac. I can always get a Subaru Impreza which people say can own the GTP and its 4WD and good on mpg. i could always get a mazda, BMW or lancer (might be expensive), BUT NO WAY. When my family got our first car a few years back it was a 07 grand prix Base.(still running well just hit 100k miles) and when i looked through good cars that i might choose it came all back to the Grand prix. Really i like the new G8 GT way better, that thing is beast, but there is no way ill afford that for like a long time. i like the GTP because it is fast not doubt about that, its affordable, good on MPG and a great performance sedan. so i believe ill get a GTP. plus i can always get some Honda or Acura or whatever gay ricer car but no, there's lots of them around here and i RARELY see and Grand prixs. that would mean me with a GTP on the streets and them riced out cruds they call "FAST CARS" will be getting owned by a Pontiac. really most people around here dont know that Pontiac's are fast cars. they think they are crud, and have never heard of em.
    so GTP it is then
And later on in the future ill find out more on my car and see how badly ill mod it into like a 12sec or lower car

I love my gtp but it seems that whenever I fix something two more things break. Other than that, it's great. Not bad on gas (if you keep your foot light), looks fine, hauls ass when you need it to, and parts are everywhere. Have fun

....Because beastly don't spend every day on the forums? And dont look at every thread?

On a side note they are both good cars but very different in ways, I am getting 20/30 in my gxp right now. Me personally I like the fixins on a GXP a little better for daily driving.
