    The Cruze is junk IMO.

It's a 1.4 Turbo already...DOHC...and it has 20 horsepower LESS than a naturally aspirated DOHC 4 cylinder brethren Cobalt...I'm dissapointed. That and the fact I get over 40 MPG's already and would get better with a F23 5-spd. Sure...my interior might not be as nice...but I can't imagine gaining 300 lbs and losing 20 horse...no thanks.

They can keep their SS...and no...the LNF died with the SS/TC. It was basically it's last hoorah. Unless they continue to make the HHR SS. You'll never see the LNF in a Cruze. However...ZZP has started modding them...

YouTube - ZZP Modified Chevy Cruze on the Dyno

    Numbers are...

    Stock: 116FWHP/135FWTQ
ZZP Modded (ZZP CAI, ZZP o2 Housing, Open Exhaust Cutout, and Trifecta Tuned: 166FWHP/210FWTQ

So...about a grand in mods or a little less...and you gain 50 WHEEL horse and 75 TQ...I bet those numbers would suffer quite a bit once you close the cutout though. I can top swap my Cobalt for around a grand and make 240 across the board and get just as good MPG's...

    So...Cruze = lame.

GM could easily make the caprice in NA. Just make them along side the camaros.

But then they'd need to kill the impala.

That is the ONLY car the local cops drive.

Minus the few caprices that are still in service.

I work at a GM dealership, and here's my take. The cruze is a nice commuter. That's it. That's exactly what it's designed for. The gas mileage no better than the cobalt. The 1.4t is rated at 24 city and 36 highway. Pitiful. My sstc gets that with double the horsepower. GM could easily put the 2.0t engine currently in the regal. That would be awesome, and more than likely will happen. The lnf may be dead, but there are several new versions of it still alive. GM isn't shunning the small turbo engine, they're embracing it. Expect to see a lot more fast small turbo cars from GM in the future.

Update, fly by wire TB is pretty damn gay. Has as much throttle delay as a diesel truck.

It's quick off the line at sea level. Slower and turbo is laggy at 6,000+FT altitude.

First two gears are REAL short.

If it's in the cards i wouldn't mind one of these lighly modded and tuned for 170whp/210wtq

you know you can tune that, right? my car has DBW and i can't tell it isn't cable operated beause i tuned the throttle map to my liking.

DBW is going to be on every car in the near future if it isn't already. get used to it.

Please tell how to tune that. My 2010 Malibu 6 Sp Auto 4 Cyl has terrible throttle response. I was about to take it back to the dealership. A couple times I've had some close calls cause the car would just sit there and then all of a sudden spin the tires.

you have to have a compatable tuner, which i have no clue which one works on the '10 malibu. there are just throttle mapping tables you can adjust. one of the things you can adjust is called 'throttle tip in', which is basically the computer delaying any pedal movement you make.

what i did on my subaru (now, granted i have a way to tune mine by myself. i dont know if they will do this at the dealer for you even if they can.) was i zeroed out just about everything and made the throttle mapping linear so it acted just like a cable operated throttle. now it drives like a normal car. there is still a SMALL delay when i let off the gas suddenly, but there isn't a good workaround for that that i know of.

For the Cruze. I had to rent a 2011 Cruze LT with the 1.4L Turbo for 3 weeks so I got a pretty good review. The car had 1000 miles when I got it and little over 2000 when I returned it. I got about 26.3 MPG. My drive to work is mostly highway at 50-70MPH. In comparision, I'm getting 23.4 with my 2010 Malibu 6sp 4cyl (33 MPG HWY my A**). It has good acceleration and traction thru the first 2 gears. First I think topped 20 MPH if lucky and 2nd maybe 40MPH. The turbo sounded like plastic flapping in the dashboard when it sounded like the waste gate was opening. It had completely terrible acceleration hesitation ( I thought my Malibu was bad). I went to pass my girl when she was driving the Malibu. I had a build up start behind her when we both were going 50 MPH. By the time we were nose and nose (80 MPH), she had caught up. Handling was decent for a 3100 lb car.

So good low speed acceleration and feels torquey due to the low gears. The motor had a good sound tune to it. Higher speeds, just sounds loud and goes nowhere. Not that great of fuel mileage compared to advertised. Might just be the industry though. Seems car manufacturers have just come up with different tests lately to get higher fuel ratings since the government started pushing for higher fuel mileage. Must be using tailwinds with their tests.
