I'd say going from XP to 7/8 (though I don't have 8) is like going from a 97-03 gp to G8. XP only supports 3gb ram, 7/8 have 64-bit OS, a lot more features, less vulnerable, still supported, use same amount of resources, etc. And how could it be a waste of money when you can get it free?

XP has 64-bit as well, and you can use Superseed's Ramdisk to create a RAM drive out of the unmanaged RAM (over the 3.5GB limit). Then just direct windows to that RAM drive for virtual memory....Tada you have more than 3.5 GB.

That said, I like Windows 7 better, lol. Windows XP was awesome in it's time, I used it for nearly 10 years. I can't say that about any other OS ever produced...ever.

Everything is shifting to Windows 8.1, Battlefield 4 has better performance in Windows 8.1 than it does in Windows 7

I'll wait for Windows 9 or better yet Chrome OS..... I hate the new theme of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. I'm tired of this ****ty interpretation of minimalist design

I do mostly video decoding and such, so Windows 7 works out best for me for now. It if weren't for DXVA2 I'd be on XP still. This is my desktop for now:

Noob you can get rid of the metro ui with some tweaking and add the start menu back.

I've been using it for the past few months now, and to be honest besides the start menu not being there, I've already adjusted to it, I like it.

My desktop is disgusting right now.

One of my monitors is almost completely full with icons because the my documents folder is broke and I'm lazy.
