I seem to have gained a couple pounds, but it looks like it's gone to my quads, traps, and delts which I guess is nice. Gym volume steadily increasing- workout's at about 90 minutes now of high weight, low reps. Been pressing way more frequently. Fun fact: when people curl (and they do every dang time now... was this in a movie or something? Why is everyone doing this suddenly?) in the squat rack next to me, I squat harder to make up for how much they suck as humans. It's like a training partner, but I don't have to talk to them. I am actually really hoping to walk in there one day and find both racks full of tandem curling. Then I'm gonna do this and glare at them for teh lulz.
I have friends that do this, I usually walk over and grab some dumbbells and curl those, or use one of the cable machines set to the floor with a good amount of resistance on it. I don't know where it comes from either but I just laugh at them for doing it, its makes them look stupid like they don't know what their doing in a gym.
Confirmed that my extra weight did not contribute to bf%. Shiny. Still bad for pullups.
Finally back into the gym. Had a pretty big health scare over the last month. Had a lymph node that was swollen up larger than a golf ball and not going down. Doctor was scared it was lymphoma, pathologist even thought lymphoma when he first viewed it through a microscope, luckily it was just a scare and I'm in good health.
Now time to tear it up again. I decided to eat what I wanted so I can shock my body back into fat burning mode. Back to lifting hard and heavy.
Looking to settle around 215 and 10% bf now
Gym a couple times the other week
Eating low carb, and reasonable portions
Stump grinding of 40+ stumps the other weekend
Next weekend wood splitting of about 6 cord
Wood stacking during the week along with other outdoor fun
Down six pounds over the last -3 weeks. Oh yeah. 9 more to go and I'll be happy with the number.
i got to the gym everday and get a workout in before work starts, just lifting really. not fat by genectics so i build muscle. can you curl your body wieght? doubt it lol
My life is more about practical muscle. I've known friends that went to the gym and they can curl/bench/push etc tons of weight. Ask them for a hand moving a 350lb arcade game and their muscle is totally useless. ? Other buddies that hit the gym have muscle they can use in everyday life and it's good. I aim for the useful.. not for looks only.
mine are useful, mostly built up from moving big double door freezers and labor. i started here and wanted to keep it so i tried to work out more and just built more musle. i have tons of upper boddy strength, legs are bad with bad knee and messed up swollen ankle.
My legs are solid. Always have been. Made a body builder buddy of mine (he was training me for 6 weeks) look bad when we got to legs. My back is good as well. A little arm/chest/back work and I'll be good.
Shredded my hands doing pullups (look like a burn victim), so for a few days, all I could do was squats. Basically, I picked a squat (heavy jump squats, front squats, etc) and maxed on it a couple times, then I moved on to back squat lockouts for singles until I felt like dying might be easier. Pretty awesome workout for being unable to use hands - eyes would definitely glaze over after the last rep. This also seems to be turning my lower back into rebar, which makes me excited to see how it's carried over to my deadlift, since my low back always feels like murder after deads.
jteske: So, do you look like a meatball on a set of toothpicks?
no i ran alot of track in highschool and havent lost any of the tone in my legs. im a genetically enhacned test tube baby. but for realz just naturally in shape.
According to Endomondo i've skated 337 miles on my Circa 2002 roller blades. Finally after hurting my back 2 weeks ago i can exercise again without pain.
