My gf refuses to do any kind of car maintenance, and I’m wondering what the community’s opinions are. Now a little more historical information, let me clarify her no maintenance policy. She reluctantly puts gas in the car, and even then she likes to have me to pump it. That is it, just gas! I have to sneak around her to just put windshield washer fluid in and put air in the tires. I have to badger her for a month to get her oil changed, and even then it costs me lunch so she doesn’t have to “waste” her valuable time waiting. Last year I offered to repair her brakes, I told her it would only cost like $30 for pads. Nope can’t afford that! So she drove them down to metal on metal, and then behind my back paid $600 to have them fixed. How I look at it I’m basically in a lose-lose situation. If I just take the car and do it all myself it is totally on my dime, and more disappointing is she will ***** at me for week afterwards. “You shouldn’t have done that.” “You could have gotten hurt.” “I was going to have the dealership do that, they know better than you.” And if I do nothing it usually ends up in a huge repair bill. But even that comes back on me, because she never has a dime for vacations or entertainment. So once again, it is on my dime if we do anything. Arrg. What to do!?!

    I'll put you down for a #4.

I hear you man. We went out of town last weekend to a concert, and she was really really irritating. But after the concert she was ready to go, I plowed her like a corn field.

    Bundy wisdom FTW

IIRC Peggy never had a car, or maybe she did and genaded it.

Unfortunately, this is totally serious. She is so flipping unreasonable not only on car maintenance, any kind of maintenance. She bought a new refrigerator a while back, the water dispenser had stopped working. I kid you not. She also thinks that having three credit cards maxxed out at all times is the American way.

Damn... I have on of them girls too. When I got with her I took her jeep for a dirve up town to get some beer and noticed the sticker in window for the oil change was over a year old. Now my first thought was that she had someone else change it besides midas. I asked her about it and she said no that the sticker was legit. I looked at her and said are you f###### stupid. YOu havent changed your oil for over a year? She says no why is that bad or something? Umm... yes that is horrible. Also her rotors were ****ed and had been driving it like that for about a year and a half. So i put all brand new brakes and rotors round it and also both front wheel bearings because they were all jacked up.

Her excuse was.... well its a guys job I shouldnt have to do anything to my car.

God that brought back angry memories

Dude you need to dump this chick quick. Car maintenance is one thing, but everything else you said in this quote makes it worse, including the credit card story.

Get rid of her before you turn into the idiot of the thread.

I was in the exact situation w/ my gf she wouldn't put money until maintenance until something major broke and then *****ed on how much it cost to repair and I come with the whole if you would of just spent the money on .... And fixed it instead of riding it like .... And causing .... To break also. I use to wax/clay bar whole 9 yards her dodge avenger but stopped doing that since she would keep the car dirty and mess and I was a waste of time especially when I would fix her **** so I leave her on her own and tell her not to ***** about it when something else breaks.
