Which years of the 97-03 bodystyle have the least problems and are the most reliable? The 01-03's?

its hard to say. Every car is different. I would personally stay away from the 97's beacuse either its a dud or a freak of nature. I say a 98+ are good cars.

OK. That's what I was thinking. But I just wanted to make sure. I always thought that the later in the body style, the more of the kinks were worked out ya know?

Why do you say that? 3800 is a reliable engine. I have had my GP for a couple years and its my DD, no problems.

I had a 97 gtp and got it with 90,000 miles and drove the hell out of it always.. Never had any probs. When I sold it the car had 225,000 miles on it.. The car was bone stock never had any tranny probs either.. Biggest thing I did to it was supercharger gasket and MAF change.... So if you don't mod it the gp lasts forever.. Atleast mine did..

ok if you mod any car there is a biigger chance things will break there are a few mods you can do and be safe

And newer generally means less mileage/better condition but not always for example

a 98 gtp with 120k miles vs a 03 gtp with 100k miles statistically the 98 has more miles but was driven less if that makes sense

98 gtp sedan forest green ,S1X intense cam,Intense pcm,Magnaflow exhaust, ubend delete,TEP trans 3.29's,3.4 smoothflow mps,Dyno'd 281hp and 371ft #'s of trq at the wheels

what everyone is saying is you don't want to buy a modded car because you don't exactly know it's past. whereas a stock car should run like it did from factory aside from gaskets/hoses that may have been/need to be replaced.

No matter who mods the car it will have more problems than stock, it is proven with any car.

    stock for stock....

    97 trannys suck

98-02 are very similar, reliable cars minus 01 and 02 cars cats cloggin up more frequently

and 03s are the newest with most likley less miles but then again its all how the car is taken care of

I would say 98-02, if you want more specific 00-02. 97's are odd ones, and 03 has the newer transmission in it. in the other 5 years most everything is exactly the same.

Edit: sorry, not necessarily based on reliability, more on interchangeability.
