What is everyone getting for gas mileage with their cars?
Try to list what kind of car/fuel/driving/engine you have.
I drive a 2000 GP GTP with premium and about 75/25 highway/city driving I am getting only 21 mpg.
This seems WAY too low.

I am getting about 26 mpg right now on my daily drive to work which is 65% back country roads & city, and 35% highway.
All highway: I haven't done much all highway lately, but from what I have done, I get around 30-32 mpg. Should improve when I get my wideband and can tune a little better.
Are you guys reading the display if so you are reading eye candy.
has anyone hit over 400 miles to a tank?
Ive got a 2006 with the L26. I fueled mine last night at 418 miles of mixed driving. 17.4ish gal, 23.9 something mpg... oh yea, and $60
on my trip to kansas my gt got 470 miles on one tank. good thing too because i NEVER use the highway and was getting crappy mileage before i went on this trip. now im getting MUCH MUCH better gas mileage.
I drive stop and go Monday thru Friday on campus... and then every other weekend I take a 50 mile trip home, and then a 50 mile trip back....
Anyway - I do a lot more city driving, and I have recorded my gas mileage on every fill up since I got the car. It started at 22 mpg... but over the past few months has decreased to 20 mpg.
I'm hoping once I replace all the gaskets and o-rings to freshen up the engine, it will run a lot better and perhaps get some better gas mileage. Bad1999GTP is going to walk me through that stuff, so I will be taking a 235 mile trip to Eau Claire... then I'll have a better idea of how my hwy mileage is - and if it improves.
on my city driving I am averaging 24 right now (verified by hand and computer program my dic is within .1) my gas gauge doesn't work so I stop with 300 miles or so, but usually I put less than 16 gallons in (pushed it to 375 and hit 16.2 yesterday) so I would say 400 miles is easy (also note that cars are supposed to go 400 miles on a tank if you can't get that either something is wrong or your driving style is bad)
All of my guages must be off because I had my low fuel light come on on the DIC and my regular gas gauge said I was below 1/8 tank and when I filled it up I put in ~13 gallons.
The low fuel on the DIC comes on when it figures there are I think 60 miles left on the tank. And the low fuel light on the dash comes on at 1/8 of a tank left. And I usually go another 50 or so miles before I get gas, and put 13-14 gallons in it. I have never run out, but the most I have probably ever filled is 16.5 gallons or so. Maybe 17. But I don't try to push it too far.
None the less, it is not good for your fuel pump to try to get every little bit of gas out of your tank. For one, the lower the fuel gets in the tank, the more dirt is picked up by the pump. Sure, there is a screen, but that will get clogged and cause poor performance and possibly damage the pump. Also, the fuel in the tank is designed to keep the fuel pump cool. If you continually run your fuel tank as low as you can, you run the risk of overheating the fuel pump and causing a failure. It happens to a lot of people that try to do this.
So even though it may seem weird, I just try to fill up my car soon after the low fuel warning shows on my DIC. And yes, that is usually around 13-14 gallons.
I get about 22-23MPG city and 30-31MPG on the highway. I've hit 450 miles to a tank before I decided "stop now or stop before the next station".
my low fuel light comes on at about 17 gallons used lately (was around 15 before)
How large is your fuel tank? Mine is only 17 gallons...
18 according to the manual
Impala SS/93 octane/overall 20 mpg
^^^^ Thats what I like to hear.
I have done as much as 34 mpg all highway but I am pretty consistently around 32 mpg. Well I was..before the tranny died...you know what I mean.
