    Hello,
I'm looking at purchasing a 2000 GTP coupe with extra low miles. The problem is that it's been sitting inside for 2-3 years without being started. What am I looking at, maintenance-wise, to get it back on the road? Should I avoid it? It's in good shape otherwise.

    Thank you for your advice.

yup, he hit them pretty well. Another thing is check the date of the tires, they say you shouldn't leave tires on for more than 6 years after they were made. Rubber wears down alot over time and past 6 years your risk of a blowout goes up.

my last car had been sitting for 2+ years and i did the usual as stated and it was a good car. only thing i did was 2 tires and timing belt tensioner. just check your hoses, PS lines, fuel lines, BRAKE lines.

My 2001 GT Coupe was sitting in the guys backyard for 2 years, outside, uncovered, untouched. He just went out and bought a battery when I went to look at it, and it started right up.

What you may notice is smoking where the exhaust manifold meets the heads. Oil runs past the valve cover gasket and sits on the manifold. Dont worry, it will burn off in a few minutes.

When you go to see it, turn the key ON, go to the engine bay and smell for gas. A car that has been sitting that long could have cracked fuel line o-rings and injector o-rings.

If you decide to buy the car go and fill up the tank to dilute the old gas right away.

But the real question is, who owns a 2000 GTP and doesnt drive it??

It's nice to know you guys haven't had much problems with yours. To answer SuperSport's question -- it was part of a guy's collection of cars. Oh well, their loss (not driving it much) is my gain!
