this is on a 2004.5 dodge 5.9 cummins btw. I was on a trip home from a friends place, working on my truck. Well we put a fire-ringed head, headstuds, dual cp3's and some other goodies on while we were in there, once we got it all finished up and took it for a test drive noticed a little oil leak, thought we fixed it but apparently we didn't and needless to say it leaked oil as fast as i could put it in. Now to the real problem, took it to the dodge dealer in the morning and had them grind and fix the issue with the leak, now from there i left and what I'm thinking is there was a bit of a boost leak and some idiot didn't watch the egt gauge and just let it meltdown. So when i came back they said it was finished, started the truck up and it was missing on two cylinders so shut it down right away, and had it towed the rest of the way home. I got bored and tore it apart and my findings were scary. What are my options? Could i sue them? Sorry for the long story.

why did you even have it removed from the dealer? I would of left it there and talked to the owner of either the shop or the dealership and had him fix it because it didn't knock when u left it with them

I kept telling them that, their comeback was "it's a highly modified vehicle".

They only way the mods can **** with any warranty is if the mods caused the damage. Thats what the law says... Not sure how it applies to service though.

Yeah, a REAL engine shop is the only place I'd trust with my car.

Ya I realize that now, I was strapped for time and ended up staying in a damn hotel for 4 days. Was a very expensive mistake to take it to the dealer...

Ouch! Sorry to hear that! Probably some tard drove it who thought it was cool seeing all the black smoke and didn't know that the black smoke = sky high egts and melts pistons. That or he didn't give a ****. Obviously you have good mechanical skills so it would probably cost you more to get a lawyer than rebuild it yourself. I would go to the dealership and pay a visit to the owner. Find out who drove the truck and make sure that bastard gets fired. If he doesn't know what thick black smoke and egts are, he's not a diesel mechanic. If he is a mechanic, I'm sure hes seen a few melted diesels from dumbasses throwing edge juice programmers running extreme setting with a stock exhaust....... meltdown city. Therefore, it should be neglect on the dealership for letting "scooter" take a drive in a customers truck, or the mechanic being a freakin moron. Good luck. keep us posted.

You can have a lot of smoke with out melting a piston.

You could have to have one huge ass turbo to have a deisel not spool it. Bigger turbo = more air = less smoke.

Yes i agree, it just takes time off the line to spool a bigger turbo. mine cleared up well once it was spooled.
