and yes, i'm away that's ALOT of miles...

    2001 Z-28 Camero

I know the owner, and he's been my dad's friend since Highschool
took care of the car, never raced or burnouts

168k miles, most highway, drove to work about 100 miles every day

had synth oil changed every 6k for the past 100k miles

    6 speed with hurst shifter

    pretty much every option

has 16in alloy wheels with all season tires

    T-Tops

    Flowmaster Exhaust

    K&N filter

Leather seats from Firebird, back seats are cloth

He's the second owner, first was a guy who buys them every other year for his wife, 2 years and 75,000 miles when he bought it

After talking to the bank prez, looking at KBB and Edmunds, and talking to the local auto auction guy, i'm thinking of offering him $5k-$6k, AA guy said it would bring $5k at auction, bank prez said $5500-$6500 max, and they were amazed that the Suggested retail even with that many miles on KBB was over $10k

I didnt take any underhood shots :-( but it just had normal road dust, no visual leaks

nice car, the kbb is a total waste of time, no dealer would ever use it when buying (they may when selling but most don't) I agree with the bank prez, there are a ton of those cars out there

Ive owned 4 of them..... You can typically find alot better deals than that.. especially in the middle of winter. It doesnt look too bad but you can find alot out there with alot fewer miles for less money

Broher inlaw was given $19K for his 02 Z28 but that was 2 years ago and it only had 19K miles...I didn't know he was getting rid of it or I would have been all over that.

Pricing doesn't seem too bad. Heck you can't buy a POS for $5K anymore.

    I have to Disagree!!!!
$5k -$6k is a STEAL! You don't want it, let me know! We look at Camaro's everyday!! 6cyl are a dime a dozen. This is a nice clean car. Go For IT!!!

I misread the post.. I thought he was asking 10k for it.... yea 5-6k is damn good even with the miles. Yes the 02's tend to bring more...some into the 30's... but they are typically the sub 20k mile cars or museum pieces. 20k will get you a really nice low mile f-bod.. 10k will get you a pretty damn nice one...under 10k and youre looking at some higher mileage "rougher" cars... but occasionally you can find a heck of a car for that price

I WAS set on buying it....but the insurance now would be the killer

    $918 a month, and that's with a mutli-car discount...:-(

If i kept the GP and took Comp off it, then combined it would only be like $8 less...But if i put my dad as primary and me secondary...that could bring it down a hair...

Noone thinks that 168k miles is too much? Thats what i keep getting on every other forum...

Holy Bat Snacks $918 a month or every 6 months?

It is a lot of miles, so you would want to get it for around 5-6K, I guess.

Since it hasn't been beat on, it should have a lot of life left, but dang that insurance premium would definitely stop me.

Wow thats some high insurance. I'd do some checking around. Just have comp and liability. Then you are covered unless you yourself crash it. Comp covers glass, deer, vandalism etc. Thats how I use to save back in the days of many speeding tickets on my record.
For that price you cant pass it up. I have been looking at 2002 WS6s and I havent found anything decent under 25K.

BACK OFF IndeedSS. I got first dibs!

How bad is your driving record? We have 5 cars on our insurance and our house all together it's $235 Month. Full coverage on TA, GP, Ragency, and liability on Z28 and work truck. Plus the house. We just switched to State Farm last year. We added our house and still saved money.
