As a few of you know, my 1998 GTP has been out of commission for a while now, with me trying to gather money to get it fixed..well I was going the route of a used transmission...I was informed of a 1997 GTP that "needed work" for 950 obo...I figured that if I could pick up a GTP and the tranny was good, I could swap them along with anything else my car may need. I called and set up a time to go look at it....as it turns out, it was only a GT, a teal coupe with 164K on it, hud, digital DIC, sunroof....it had not run in 3 months, apparently some lady's son hit some water and it supposedly shut off and they never bothered to check it out..I went to look at it and kinda liked it, and figured if I could get that running cheap, it would be a good deal...I offered 750 for it and they took it, I got it home and after some rooting around, found out the gas gauge was broken and they had run it out of gas, I put in a new battery and some gas and took it down the road it ran like a champ...here are some pics(It needs a bath like nobody's business, I know, lol)oh and in the two pics of the front, the hood is popped and since the drivers side headlight lense was busted, I switched out the headlights later the same day lol:

your passenger side fender is broken from lifting the car up from the pinch welds in front of the door. mine is like that too. i just got done pulling the fender out with a screwdriver so it doesnt hit when i open/close the door a couple days ago.

either way good deal. depending upon the body and what not, you should just use the motor and transmission that are in the GT...

I noticed that yesterday too and how, like you said, the door kept catching on it and we bent it out..hopefully it wont rain this weekend so I can get it cleaned up lol. I'm still going to fix my car, but I am now waiting on my wife's dispersement check from college in July to do so, once it is back on the road, the GT will become my wife's

If you're still in the market for a transmission, here's a cool Idea.

A Getrag 282 or the stronger but harder to find Getrag 284 are both 5-speed manuals and will work in any car with a 3800 because the bell housings are almost a perfect match. You'll need a machined flywheel from a 3800 camaro among other things. A bit of work but would be a very cool project.
