if i were to change from regular oil to amsoil and change the oil every 7k miles and keep up with all the maintenance with no more mods than a pcm and gutted airbox what is the life expectancy?

I am sure that 'grandprixfamily' on the other forum (and he might be over here too) has close to 300k on his GT. Should be no problem for the engine, but the tranny is the largest issue I see.
I have seen over 400k on a 3800 engine, heck even an engine that everyone says is garbage I have seen 200k on (the lowly 307)
I have a 98 GTP
Have 322224.8 on the same motor and tranny
Just put headers SLP on it this month,
But have been running a 3.4 DHP. well see mods below
for the last 6 mos now and the car is
driving and acting like it just came off the lot...
My car is not a garage queen and is driven every chance
i get this is the first year not driven in the snow...
I have done some body work on it and it will need a new
gas tank and lines sometime this year.
I will be also redoing the top end gaskets just to make sure
everything stays this way.
So i guess bottom line is you look after it it will be there 4 you...
I have 155K on my GT right now....and shes still running strong
They should last for a good while if you maintain them.
It will last a LONG time
My little 3100 has 160,000 miles on it right now and still go'n strong. So yours of you take good care of it should last as long as you own it. The two big things that takes a car down is the trans and rust.
I have a 155,000 on my 99 GTP, its been modded since 55,000 (before people scanned and gave a damn about KR at that). It hasn't let me down yet and if it did I could only blame myself. I ran the hell out of it the first few years. I always properly maintained it though. I'd put a 3800 up against any motor as far as realibilty.
I think the 4T65-HDs are damn good as well. Considering the abuse most people here give them, they hold up damn well. I'm still on my original and I think thats due to proper maintance (pan drop every 30,000 miles)...
I have 149K on my 99 GT, it is damn near stock. driven everyday and origonal engine, trans, gaskets, fuel pump, waterpump, alternator, ect. I do think anything has been replaced except the tires, brakes, struts, battery, sparkplugs, wires, and oil.
i have 87k miles but my tranny was shifting hard so im getting my tranny redone it was prob just the pressure soleinoid ....(i dont know how to spell that) but im not paying for it pops is cause he owes me so ill just let him replace the whole thing and it'll last for ever i change my oil every 3000 miles and my thirmest every summer and winter
3800's are an EXTREMELY reliable engine. I have 134,000 on mine and I'm sure I have quite a bit of life left on it.
wow this thread is ancient. What part of jersey you from GrandPrixGT00
