Soo i'm thinking '09 might be it for the old gtp. I had alot of fun with her, i haven't experienced it's full potentail such as cam good tune and wicked small pulley, but i'm gonna be done with it after a few more mods, full size ic, rockers, re tuned smaller pulley, then that's it. i wan't a v8! I just love the sound of a v8 nothing can beat that sound, even a wicked loopy cam on the 3800 may come close but not close enough. Well anyways my next toy is going to be anything that is LS1 powered. and money is gonna be kind of tight this summer soo i'm thinking doing one of these instead of buying a 98+gm with alot of milage and just making this a project

    1992 camaro w/LS1

So what i would do is find a decent shape iroc or gta and get a fairly low milage ls1 and throw it in. Or i might just get a 98+ gm body and put in a newer ls1 engine with less milage if that is much easier then putting the ls1 in an older gm body. Now i belive the older camaro's and t/a's equipped with the v8 had 700r trannys and i think i may need a 4l60 or 4l80 if i do the ls1 swap right ? Also what do you think about this idea as a little project. Money is tight soo i wont buy a newer ls1 powered gm car but find a older gm body iroc for example with a decent body and find an ls1 engine and swap????

Also does anybody know about modding the ls1's? I know i can throw on a exhust system, get some long tube headers, better intake but what about cam and stuff like that, is it like modding the gtp it requires good tunning in order to get any good gains out of it? Also in the future when i do get the ls1 i would like to get a supercharger kit or turbo kit.

a '92 with an ls-juan? nice. i would LOVE to find an old GTA. those things handled like they were on rails.

most ls1s will run 12s with bolt ons. i have a friend running mid 11s on cam, heads, headers, and a higher stall. it is pretty fun to ride in, sideways on the street a lot.

    Great project!

I've had the same idea for over 5 years now! If I can ever find a super clean 3rd Gen, I'd have it in a heartbeat. My cousin (when I was younger) got a brand new 1989 IrocZ w/ 350 TBI, Auto and it was white with silver striping, t-tops, power everything. It was nice! he tore it up though. I've always had the memory of that car in my mind, i'd love to have something similar but a hellova lot faster!

Hell I wish that was here local to me! If the body was straight and most of the swap was done right, i'd give him $4,000 cash in a heartbeat.

At least you got good taste in cars unlike some people...

Hell yeah, i'd grow a mullet to drive an LS1 3rd Gen!

Seriously though, there are a few of those middle aged mullet wearing 3rd Gen guys with exhaust as there only mod around here, they think there fast. There the most fun to embarrass IMO.
