    Is there anyone, anywhere on this forum, who can look up vehicle history by the VIN? I'm interested in a Denali in another part of the state, but it ain't cheap, so I don't have $40 to spare for a Carfax (remember when they were $15? Did server space actually double in cost in 10 years? That's literally their only expense), and I definitely don't need surprise repair expenses.

    Weak link in the Denali seems to be the trans if over 200k. I don't know why maybe it's the LQ4. I've had 2 and loved them. I currently drive a 03 Tahoe with 217k on the clock and just sold a 01 suburban with 320k on it.. both well maintained. I wish I could look the vin up for you.. 06 Denali was the best imo

    This one has 101K and looks practically brand new. Of course, the wife's SRX was low mileage and looked brand new, and now doesn't move, but that has a DOHC VVT modern piece of **** engine, not an LS.

    I'm my experience with these rigs 101k is just breaking in engine wise.. if it's past 06 Idk if they made any changes other then cosmetic and amenities

    when i was looking for my tahoe. seen lots of Denali's for sale, al were cheaper then the tahoe of the same year. after looking around for more info on them i stopped looking at them.

    where they come with a 6.0 (that parts nice) they are also awd, trannys, t cases and front diffs are all issues on them with higher miles.

    i ended up finding a 05 LT tahoe 4x4 with like 122,000 on it. i still daily drive my regal to work for the most part because it gets way better mileage. tank of gas will last me a month where the hoe will drink more then a tank and its a lot larger tank. so i use it for winter and supermarket duties. ride really nice tho. fully loaded with the works inside. and the 5.3 has the power to get it moving pretty damn well.

    Engine is a baby with that mileage. Hopefully someone changed the trans fluid and filter some time before otherwise do that asap.

    Most forget to change the axle lube and transfer case lube so do that as well.

    It's hard to change the transfer case lube on a RWD vehicle....

    diffs and t case are cake to change the fluids in a gm truck. the front diff you can suck it out, same as the rear diff. the t case has two plugs, one high one low, low one drains it, fill back up to the higher one.

    if the vin is listed in the ad, google it, see if it comes up on other sale sites, some times they have the car fax there, or just call and ask the dealer for the car fax.

    unless its a private sale, then your on your own really. theres no more hacking into car fax.

    Thanks for the ideas. The Carfax came up and it actually looks good, except that it was most recently sold last October. Why would anyone want to get rid of a car in three months? Took me two years to unload my 94 Lumina.

    i know a guy who plows through ten or more cars a year. hes open to trading em, buying, selling, as long as he ends up on the top side of things hes game.

    poor sob was out of the 3800 game and sold off everything, then got sucked back into it again a few months back lol hes since bought a new car, aka 0 miles new. and 2 regals lol
