had a flashback, and had to test, sorry
-edit the old ****s might remember the sensoring fun back in the day
I will say, I blindly purchased a set of his heads when I was turbo, never got to run em. Since sold em. With new light things seem super shady. Also his website is a joke, poorly done and seems like he is a "facebook" business which is always shady. The dude just needs to post up flow numbers on all his "stages"
Im going to go ahead and sub into this as well.... I have talked to Chris a few times. He has always appeared to me (based on my interactions with him) to be a pretty stand up guy. I know a few people that have bought heads from him and they are happy with it. The pricing thing has always seemed odd to me as well but I never bothered to give it another thought. Kevin Yates on the other hand is a complete **** bag. That guy is so full of **** it isnt funny. And I will fully agree that people need to avoid doing any business with him.
Meh
Im crazy I guess
Just lets start a pricing list
I was told $200 a head core charge. That's $400 I wouldn't get back unless I paid about another $100 shipping my old heads back.
So my grand total was $1,765. Then another $100 to ship my heads back in hopes I would get $400 back but really only $300 due to shooing cost.
Now I'm not sure but I didn't think the vendors charge core fees
The thread was shut down when another member kept flapping their jaws about how Chris's heads are the holy grail of the 3800 world. He kept telling everyone it's 1200 etc but never actually owned them or seen them first hand or anything as far as I'm aware.
I commented saying this is why Chris should not be allowed to continue selling here as he is not following the forum rules. He is not setting a standard pricing guide that will ensure each and every member will be treated fairly.
More BS and backlash etc etc and I said look. Here is my email from him to show you it's not $800 for mild heads "that are better or equal to zzp stage 3" and $1200 heads that are "fully loaded better then any vendor"
so after I show my proof a flurry of excuses and nonsense continued and I called it quits and moved along.
My point was to address an issue about bait and switching members here and with no proven results , to correct the wording of his ads.
Hope this helps and sorry no one took this seriously when I had brought it up in February.
for 200$ a head core charge ill start selling em to him
I guess now they are banning people from their facebook group. Ive talked to Chris Hinson quite a bit and have met him in person. In my opinion, he is a good guy. Im not so sure about Kevin though. From what ive seen, he seems rather quick to jump the gun. His ban the member post mentions "meeting up" with people either before the meet or at the meet. I could be taking that out of context but to me, it sounds like a threat.
Again. This is going exactly the way it did with Tim King and his transmissions... Been there done that before
yeah but if all those are crap like newer mold 7 and nines and the others with ****ed up tooling...then that's about right....good castings/mold numbers, with no core shift and low miles would be a 200$ core.
I get not wanting to tromp through a junkyard looking for good castings and then removing them. but $200 core charge for non perfect cores doesn't make sense.
Years ago a guy was flapping his gums at someone else on another forum and threatened him and told him he didn't have the balls to show up at the next local meet. Well the guy did show up to the meet, walked right up to the gum flapper and punched him right in the face.
No one defended the gum flapper either, because he was the one making threats.
Needless to say, gum flapper never ran his mouth again.
Regardless most people who make "threats" aren't man enough to do anything about their threats in the end. They just like to sound big and bad on the internet.
