Just moved back this winter, after being in the Midwest (GP central) since 2001. I've gathered up a small handful of folks in the Rome-Utica area, that I've begun chatting with & helping mod.
Currently doing a Series 2 swap on a '95 Riviera that had a Series 1 L67. The kid got pretty wild with the paint colors on the engine parts, so we'll see how it looks when I drop it in.
There's a handful of guys in UNYCGP who are in the Syracuse area, but not many. I've just kept contact with the new guys out here via phone/AIM/etc.

yeah nice man im also apart of the unycgp...
Check out the Syracuse Area meeting thread. I attempted to get out there Saturday, but stopped halfway, at Sylvan Beach & partied at a buddy's camp while watching the Cup race.
I'm usually free on weekend nights to get out to stuff like that, though. Also we can try getting them to head to Sylvan on Thursdays for the cruise when it starts up after Memorial Day.
Plenty of excuses to get together and shoot the breeze. Hope to see you around, and maybe organize a convoy to one of the nicer non-ESTA tracks as well (although I may show up there once in a while for a quick visit during the summer).

me and my best friend are drivin our gps down to carlisle in june for the car show! we want other gps to come too
just come any way...lol
I only plan on riding along with my buddy's Procharged '00 Camaro SS. My car's not in any sort of show condition right now, heck I barely take it to local things.

Anywho an update... I've rustled up a handful of guys in the Utica & Rome area, along with a guy from near Albany (Amsterdam) who's got 3 L67's among his family.
As for travelling to meets, a few of us headed to the UNYCGP picnic near Geneseo in June. I also went with my LS1 buddy to check out a drag event at E-town in NJ last month.
We've now got one guy with a cam'd/header'd/9.4:1'd Regal looking to do more... a 3.5/plog/dp Regal determining the turbo/cam combo to reach his 450whp/11.5 goal next year... a 3.4/cam'd/header'd Monte in very clean condition... an HV3/int/exh Monte about to have me top-swap/cam it this winter... and my own car playing with an MP112/IC setup on my cam/header/9.4:1 setup I've had for years.
Fun-fun. I told the guys we should get together locally before any of the summer-only cars get put away. We just had a random trip to the Casino with 4 guys for a buffet hit, so something like that may work, or anything else.

hey man, yeah my ride is about to be put away soon...lol but it sounds cool

i am from the syracuse area...there are a few out here, but never really get to meet up with them
well there is a unycgp.com club, i really havnt talked too much with them but im sure they have a lot of meetings. i think this summer ill get into contact with some of them.
yeah, i will too. i'm going to look on their website. i found one on grandprixstore.com, they're in our area (it may be the same club), and they go to Watkins Glen once a year. I'd like to do that, too. I've been on that track (as a pass. in corvettes) and it's real fun to drive on. i'd like to meet up with (or at least talk to) some people who have modded their GP's for some info. Looks like you've done some work on yours, how are the ZZP parts? Good, bad or indifferent? If you join the club, or meet up there, let me know. I'd like to meet you and some of the people up there.
The main UNYCGP meet is a big picnic, usually in the Finger Lakes region each summer. They also go to the NYIRP track on a fairly regular basis, if you're close enough to make it alot. Most of that crew is in the Buf/Roc area, but those of us in the Syr/Uti region do some travelling to meet them on occasion.
The Glen experience with a FWD car will be slightly less fun than a Vette, but never hurts to try. Hope to meet you at an event in the future, and grow the community around here a little more.
