I'm about at the end of the rope with my car (99 GTP) and my evap issues. I'm at the point where I'm just tossing parts at it.

I'm located about 5 miles from Akron Canton Airport in Ohio.

Can anyone recommend a shop or tuner that can help me trouble shoot this?

    Current codes are
    P0440
    P0449

I've done searches and read on the codes and have replaced a bunch of items but I still haven't been able to tackle this one on my own.

    Thanks.

According to the U.S. Census bureau Ohio is in the Midwest.

While I realize you are looking for a shop, I took a moment to read up on 449 and 440.

449 being a circuit not doing as the pcm commands.
440 being a large leak in the evap system.

You don't mention parts replaced etc. However I'm aiming toward the evap whatever that it's complaining about in 449 either staying open and not working as it should, aka causing a large leak. Or something of that nature.

The fsm mentioned (gearchatter.com) checking wiring by the fuel system under the car. This means to me that a wire may have gotten nicked/hurt etc by road debris. I'd start checking each of the wires that is mentioned in those codes to find/determine if there's a short etc causing the problem. Also I'd test the soleniod etc to ensure it's working as they suggest.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    Bill -

Thanks you are always up on things like this around here and a great value.

    My current codes are
    440
    449

    The last set was
    440
    449
    442

I replaced the purge solidnoid and that is where I'm at currently.

    I have
    Replaced
Plugs, wires, cleaned the connections on the stock coil packs
re-worked all of my vaccum lines in the engine compartment

When I got the car it had a bad fuel leak when you filled the tanked.

Turned out the PO didn't replace the o-ring for the sending unit in the tank. I was able to get a new o-ring and took care of that issue.
I will pull the inspection cover off and verify that the sending unit connections are plugged in properly and there isn't any debris in the plugs.

I'd also crawl under the car. Check it all over for anything that looks like a potential wire issue that could be grounding etc.

Will give that a go also. If it was just a evap code I won't be so worried. But at crusing speeds it's got a jump/hesitation in the RPM's. If you drive hard it doesn't seem to be there. Only when you take it easy and cruise around does it do it.
