    Is it possible that a high displacement oil pump would temporarily make the vechicle alright..

    No, because low oil pressure can be an indication that one or more bearings (crank cam or main) are worn.
    If you can get an oil analysis performed, that will look for forign material in the oil
    and can pinpoint the problem.
