Nice! Welcome! Kinda last minute, but there's a meet this Saturday, the 13th!!! At the Fuddruckers in Downers Grove. Here's a link to details!
Northern IL w-body meet XX: Dec 13th (Downers Grove)

I havent had Fuddruckers in a LONG time. sounds good!
It went pretty well! No pictures, it was too cold and windy at first we went inside right away. Then we when we were finished(5 hours later LOL) it was freezing raining out. There was about 9 of us there
fuddruckers is the old bustedness
Sonic is in town and by the end of summer '09 there will be a few in the area, rich dude in barrington is openings a few more stores since the algonquin one is always busy.
There is a Twisted Kilt being built in hoffman estates now too, right next to my work.
If they dont mind driving out to the burbs, there should be more events located here, cheaper sales, food, cigarette taxes, maybe gas too.
Just an idea, I dont know what dupage co is on taxes but crook is atleast 10%
Well, this was the 20th meet we've had in 4 years. I had been to a couple ILGPC meets a few years ago, and was on the boards for a bit, but they made it quite obvious that gen I w-bodies were not welcome. That, and they basically seemed like a group of alcoholics (all their "events" revolved around where they were going to meet up to get plastered) who all just happened to own GPs. I stopped posting/visiting there over 2 years ago. So I originally designed our meets for local w-body.com members, most of whom own gen I w-bodies, because there were quite a few around here (W/SW suburbs). That's why the meets are held where they are.
The turnout was pretty good, given the weather conditions. There were 10 people and 7 cars. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to line up the cars (are usual spot had snow plowed into it) as Matt said, because the wind was just ridiculous, so no pictures for the first time ever at one of these meets.![]()
so are you saying that someone with a Gen III should stay away? Is this somewhere that a newb can get some good insight, even though i have an '08 GP? i am just looking for a place that has all generations,so I can see the progression of the cars as well as the mods to them.
We welcome everyone. Unlike a good portion of Gen II/L67 owners, we're not prejudice against ANY cars. Until I was introduced to CGP/ILGPC, I had never heard or seen of a car platform where enthusiasts of the current generation of that platform were so anti-the generation before them. In fact, gen I w-bodies aren't even referred to as such. Most gen II guys often refer to them as "pre-gen", even though that term makes absolutely no sense. I mean...what does that make the gen III? A "post-gen"?
We have had gen III GPs there on several occasions (including just this past Saturday), as well as gen 1.5 and II Monte Carlos, Impalas, Regals, etc. Hell, we only had 1 gen I at this last meet (a Cutlass convertible), and 4 w-bodies total. Brian G's L67 swap still isn't complete, so he came in his 3000GT VR4, Andrei brought the Bonneville GXP this time, and my sister and her b/f came in their rented Mustang (his GP is in the shop after a ridiculous accident while parked at home; long story). We've had all kinds of cars there, and we couldn't care less, because we are car enthusiasts in general, not just L67/3800 leg-humpers. This is also why we can quite literally sit around for hours discussing cars. Can't say the same for the one time I advertised this meet on ClubGP (last spring), and we literally had an all Gen II GP showing with the exception of one gen I Cutlass sedan, and Faskatts gen III. I've never had a meet go so quick, and end so fast. Guess you can only discuss smaller pullies and headers for the L67 so long before you're bored.
lol well put! Like D said, anybody can come to the meets!!!!
well that is outstanding then. i will have to get to the next one, as long as it doesn't snow like it did Tuesday night. took me 4 hours to get from Elk Grove Village to Naperville, that was lots of fun. i am just a car guy and always looking for new ways to do things as well as give my observations on things as well. As long as someone posts the next "gathering" i will be there.
wow. I am very impressed! I love GenI I used to have a 95 coupe. loved it. next time you guys have another meet... please post up!
i second that... give a couple weeks notice I'll get some of my local got3800 members to come....
btw, we're orginizing a got3800 drag day at byron (other weekend events as well) for sometime in may... if it's like our last big meet we held in september,(dyno day) they'll be members from all surrounding states in attendance, we had em here from tenn. mich. wis. and iowa... it was a full weekend event and it was a blast!!!
i'll post in my "attn 3800 owners" thread when the exact date is locked in.....
im from hammond indiana. close to gary
hey now! turn that frown upside down!!!!
