I bought a 97 gtp less than a month ago with 86k black on black for 2600$. It ran great (still snow out) got good gas mileage. No problems whatsoever during test drive. Since then i have replaced, front valve cover gasket, coupler, plugs, wires, pcv, fuel filter, thermostat, coolant elbow, made my own intake, cleaned throttle body, cleaned iac, had a coolant flush and bled my coolant system.
Couple days ago (before i replaced my elbow or bled my coolant) it started overheating BAD. Fans come on fine, has plenty of coolant, itll sit fine at idle, around middle sometimes 1 notch up, but as soon as i go around the block it shoots up to almost red but never overheats. Low coolant light pops on and off, it might be a temp sensor it might not. At the same time I have a little white smoke, looks more like condensation, everyone is saying LIM gaskets. It could also be a headgasket. I also think it might be my water pump. Once its running hot theres a mysteriously low amount of coolant running through the top radiator hose.
I bled my system in hopes that would help, it bled... FOREVER. It never came out just coolant so Im convinced either my water pump is fcked or i have a crack in a hose somewhere, but NO LEAKS>
I can do most labor, Im willing to venture into LIM and/or head gasket. But im not about to dive in blind.
Regardless, Im not about to start replacing things, when it could be something simple and less expensive or painstaking and more expensive.
I just need someone to help me diagnose, and if they are or was a mechanic, possibly some help or whatever you are willing to offer. I have enough money for parts and then some but not much, not enough to take it to a shop to be diagnosed.
THANK YOU
btw im in dearborn, FORD and TELE
