I'm going to take a Youtube course before I attempt the locks. Helped out a bunch when doing the ignition. I don't like surprises when working on vehicles. lol

Couple things I forgot to mention... I can't remember if the old ignition had an "accessory" position, but the new one does. So that's pretty cool. The better news, I played with the trans calibration a bit. Made a HUGE difference. I went from thinking I definitely need to change gear ratios and there's no way I can run a 31' tire, to being okay with the current ratio (for now at least) and shopping for new 31" tires. That completely changed the driving experience. It went from a kind of lazy dog to pretty aggressive machine.

trans tuning is so good when it works your way lol

door locks are cake. theres the rod to it, and a simple C clip holds in it place. just rip that out. carful with the rod end. dont break the plastic crap.

    So far so good!

Huge upgrade today. Got my big mud tires put on. Not entirely sure how I feel about the look. I'm not in love, but I like them better than the old tires. I think a little tire shine will help.

They for sure ride better. That tall sidewall sucks up some of the road bumps. Actually not too terribly loud either.

New tires look good on it. Throw a coat of Ultima Tire&Trim Guard Plus on it and call it good. Stuff seems to last a long time and works well to bring back old weatherstrips/door seals too.

    Thanks! I'll look into that.

New locks came today. Got them direct from wolfsecurityhardware.com.

I had them in within an hour.

Now I feel complete. Fresh ignition and door locks with OEM keys. Both with spares.

C-clips, retaining clips, and gaskets. Made by Strattec. From what the guy said, they are the OEM manufacturer of GM locksets.

    All for $30 shipped!

the rear end I'm referring to is the 1988-1998 heavy half ton rear end. it is a 14 bolt semi float axle and has 6 lug hubs. I was on performancetrucks and asked what to do to build my rear end and this was what they suggested. there are stickey's on performancetrucks on how to do the swap. I mentioned that the 2 wheel drive rear end was narrower than the 4x4 rear end, i'm not sure why, just that the overall length is shorter by several inches. they aren't super common, so if you go a different route I won't be surprised, just sharing information.

I was able to pick the above mentioned rear end up for 100 bucks. it has a 3.42 gear ratio and a G80 differential. A lot of the rear ends come with drum brakes, there are disc brake conversions as well.

The other day I decided to finally do something about the squeaky front brakes. Threw on a set of Wagner ThermoQuiet QC52 ceramic pads and all new hardware. Under $50 all in and so far so good.

That's when I noticed some mismatched lug nuts. They must have ran off while the truck was at Big-O. Ordered up a dozen from the Amazon. Will replace the other dozen in a couple weeks. Little bits at a time.

    No.

    Yes!

Big day for the old K10. Fresh tint. $40 to remove the old, $80 to instal the new. **% on the sides and 5% on the back. I declined any shade on the windshield. Best $120 ever spent!

    And because I like nostalgia.

That tint really pulls it together. Looks great. Good call on the sticker. Needs a "Where's the Beef?" decal to go with it

Thanks! I like your sticker idea. I would LOVE to find an old 97.9 WLAV-FM sticker. Period and location correct.

Big milestone today. Hit 60k. Maybe 260. Could be 360. Nobody knows for sure.

Ahh, always nice to see a bunch of zero's roll around no matter what the mileage. The 6 digit odo's make it impossible to hide the mileage nowadays
