Hell I'm near Houston and can barely get enough people together to do a meet. Maybe 3 total for going to an established car's and coffee thing. (Aka old dudes in T-buckets). I have yet to meet but one member and he has a GXP. But right now my transmission shifts fine, the only thing I noticed was that is seemed to shift a little more firm and less overlap with the 05' PCM, but that may have just been the computer learning I noticed it firmed up several days later. Still want to drop the pan and filter and if I'm in there it's getting a shift kit for sure. The last shift kit I installed was in a Turbo 350 in my 78' GMC Diablo and it would chirp the
tires at moderate throttle and at full throttle it would bark them pretty hard. It was an easy install but seemed that the the kit was like $100 for the plate and a couple of springs. And not a lot else. This transgo kit is about $45 and the Intense one is a bit higher. I started getting a little confused as to what transmissionis in the car is it a 4t65E or HD? How do you tell the difference?

I'm used to the RWD platform so 700R4, Turbo350, Turbo 400, 2004R, even the 200C and 350C but I've never messed with the FWD platform at all.

Intense's kit is a transgo with a couple extra spacers, a green scrubby and new piston seals. IMO get a transgo and smile. However if you want to chirp tires, you need more power. And.. have TEP do your valve body/channel plate and open the feed holes in the spacer place.

When you feed it with a garden hose..it'll hit the gear harder.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Good looking GTP, I'm partial to white Gp's after owning four of them.
    Can't really say I'd call it a base model...it's a gtp.
I would honesty rather have the non tap shift trans gtp for an 04/05 car given the choice.
Base model would really refer more to an 06-08 non GT car.

Well, thanks. After seeing all the bells and whistles on some of the other rides I just figured for a GTP this must be as base model as it gets. I just happen to find white cars for some reason. That seafoam green Taurus is the holdout. I'm going to get rid of the other two even if I have to drag them across the scales. I'm going to order a shift kit I guess Monday and try to get it installed next weekend. Then enjoy it like that for a while.

Hmm, looks like something I can easily make, although I question if it would actually blow the tube out without bending it severely. Is that what happens?

It's too hot to work outside anymore so I will be in spitting distance to our mill. So when I do install the kit I'll just make one.

Lol, you are crazy. I'd figure out so many things if I had a mill. You could probably just make the extra spacer for the Transgo shift kit. It's a good idea to swap out the top 1-2 accumulator spring with another 2-3 Spring, too. I literally duplicated Transgo's instructions for the 2-3 accumulator for the 1-2.

Here's an old pic from the old shop. Now we have this and our lathe in an AC'd shop where I can work on my car. Reason? Well if it was in the hot shop (welding area) it would pick up too much grinding dust and you know how humid it is in Houston it would rust solid. We bought this thing 11/2002 from HF and other than fixing a few things on it and replacing drawbars it's been a good machine. I've used it for many of my classified projects and stuff. I bought a Wilton vice for it a few years ago for it. But once I was out of the shop the guys started just using it as a drill press and not cleaning it correctly after using the coolant system I bought for it. So it rusted up and I got pissed. We hired a new shop supervisor and I got him on board with getting all the guys to take turns cleaning it.

Before I ended up cleaning it, draining the compressor and dryer (HF as well, best $400 ever spent), and doing all the maintaince on most of the other tool. Now I don't have to mess with it. But I do buy all the tooling for any of the machines and repair them. Even the drills and grinders. I don't mind repairing them and my boss always asks why can't the guys in the shop do it. But I would rather they not mess with it. It's easier for me to fix the actual problem then to fix the actual problem and whatever these guys lose or leave out.

Stupid question, how do you have an 05 GTP Base Model? IIRC 05 had GT1 GT2 GTP and GXP, there was no base option until 06.

Bill that would be cool. What are the diameter of the pipes and the distance between them?

    Thanks,

Didn't get to order the shift kit had some things come up and still haven't done to much with the car other than drive it. I've decided I need to go ahead and replace the wire loom around the engine harness first as it's just falling apart and last thing I need is wiring chaffing and giving any more problems so I'm going to put together an order to Waytek I need some relay sockets and switches for another project, I'll order some loom as well.

Today the boost gauge actually helped me as I started driving home in traffic I noticed that I was idling at 6"Hg came home and found a fitting in my T to the MAP cracked, found it fixed it and will pick up some better vacuum line.

need to change the rear brakes this weekend.

Ok, cool that would be great. Brakes this weekend and maybe tires and alignment, might need to go ahead and pick up the outer tie rods before that. Not real sure why the castle nuts were so far away from the cotter pin holes but my buddy said the threads in the outer rods was pretty sloppy so I'm going to replace them as well.

For now, I am going to have to research brake upgrades later. I did read about F-body calipers and rotors, and I guess they changed bolt pattern at some time as I remember them being 5 on 4-3/4" (or I haven't converted it to metric). Like I said more research wasn't really looking to mess with brakes just yet anyway. Right now I have to replace 2 tires ASAP and outer tie rods then get the front end aligned. So again plans have changed. Had the tire pressure go off on me last night on the way home and had 5 psi by this morning. I put air in the tire and brought my tank with me and had to air it up half way to work. The rear pads on the drivers side started the metal on metal grind earlier this week, but only at very low speed. I have babied it the rest of the time and if I hit the brakes a little harder to get a slight amount of weight transfer they don't make any noise. Are there no indicators (squealers)? When I checked them by hand the rotors have a lip like an I-beam so that's also got to be done.

I ended up buying 50 series tires a few weeks ago since I couldn't replace all 4 at the same time and the previous owner had the 50's already on it. It's a little shorter but I have an easier selection of tires, and I know I'm off by a couple of MPH but hey I can get a little more leverage that way right.
