OK thanks for the confirmation. Can I use a venturi pump in my tank? Is the only difference the venturi system in the canister, but dimensions and how it fits in the tank is the same?

I went ahead and just bought a 35.00 pump off eBay just to get it running again, until I can figure how to get a good pump in there that won't run dry or overheat.

Dont know what type of gas you running or if you have fuel pump rewire... But im currently using a walboro 255lph pump on my xp ported head gen v 2.8 e85 build i just swapped bottom halfs of the pump as the walboro pump wouldnt fit our imps with swapping to a venturi style canister i would try that with your mods you have and i know you will keep modding

Thanks for the reply I guess, Jay...but without punctuation its difficult to understand what you are saying. You have a venturi pump? You swapped bottom half's of the pump? What does that mean? You physically separated the actual pump?

it's my understanding that the venturi pump needs the specific venturi canister to work properly. if you have the entire venturi assembly it will simply install into your tank. all the wire connections, fuel lines are the same.

1998 to 2000 grand prix cars came with the venturi setup. another way to verify the car is in the right age range-it will have a steel gas tank. when gm switched to plastic tanks, gm stopped using the venturi pump/canister setup. got my venturi setup from a pull your part JY. it was a slam dunk easy installation.

Its starting to make sense now. Thanks. I found a guy here who used to sell 255 and 340 pumps, both venturi and non. According to him all non venturi pump will have to have the canister modded. So I pm'd had m to see if he can get me a complete venturi setup with canister. I DON'T want a hacked canister. I could buy the venturi pump from zzp or somewhere, but I still need that canister. I'll post the thread I found some good info in. His company was Moar! Performance. Guys in Japan right now but last post of his he said he can still get the pumps. Hope so.

Nope. I can pretty accurately guess how fast I'm going without looking at the speedo.... 0 mph with a busted fuel pump. Sheesh, mods these days....

New fuel pump in, car runs again. Even though I don't get to drive it much it kills me knowing I can't start it whenever I want. While I had the pump out I finally remembered to use my e85 tester.

Either I messed up or Kroger sells e95-ish. Kinda hard to fill it exactly where its supposed to be. If they gave you a dropped and said put X amount of drops of water/fuel in it would be more accurate I suppose. At least I have a baseline to compare when they switch to winter stuff.

Oh, and I'm wondering sumfin'. I still have an exhaust leak at the crossover. Fixed the header tick, much quieter. Band clamp is as tight as I can get on the crossover and I can still feel air. Would it be better to hit those with an impact? Will that aluminum piece in the middle squish before the bolt breaks? Either that or grind the aluminum thinner so there is more squishability is my guess.

take the band clamp off, smear some rtv around the lip of the cross over and a inch each way past the lip, then bolt the band clamp on again.

Ricer as it sounds, heck I've seen collector gaskets made with just layers of foil. Many layers. Not saying foil could help you but if you added as needed, who knows? That good copper RTV works best if it can sit overnight, doesn't it Scotty? Its actually amazing stuff.

Finally got time to read through the whole thread. Man you got this thing up and running fast. I know on later model Imp's that are flex fuel you can read the percentage of ethanol, but I am not sure how they do it wether they calculate it based on fuel flow or what, but it reads on the Tapp on the 14'. I doubt it's a sensor, so maybe it's a calculation based on some parameters it reads? As fas as the rest I'm really not sure without seeing it. The only time I have used band clamps I tightened them with a Mikita impact and snugged it down until the seam showed through the band.

yup. take the clamp off slather rtv around the joint, re clamp and let it sit.

i had to do this to the dp on the sd headers as they just kept blowing apart with band clamps. so i did the rtv trick and they never blew open again.

ive since welded a cat in and no clamps any more on the dp.

OK, I'll use the rest of my tube of copper rtv tonight if I have to, and let it sit till tomorrow. After that its HF welder, and the nightmare welds that follow and will make you taste your stomach contents in the back of your throats.

Its probably a sensor. I looked into installing one, but they are very pricey! I'll just rely on fuel trims instead.
