or any of the other brands out there. https://www.google.com/search?q=asse...ed=0CAkQ_AUoBA
some guys will just use motor oil.
Good idea and let us know what the outcome is! I'm interested...lol
just take your time.
funny but if you go watch some of them engine building competitions, they slam the cam in the engine in like 3 seconds, you can pretty much hear every journal clicking past the bearings.
the engine only has to run for 5 minutes iirc when done so i dont think they care much.
Well, I got the new DP installed and the KR is gone! I needed to swap the DP out any ways... I had booger welded the shorty section on because i welded it while it was on the car LOL. I was also out of shielding gas so that didn't help. I normally wouldn't to a hack job like that but i wanted it done and i new i'd replace it when i could. SO here are some pics of the install!
The bolts connecting the DP to the resonator were not going to come out on the own, and i didn't want to snap them off. So i cut the heads off of the bolts to get the DP off. This left enough bolt sticking out to get a set of beefy vise grips clamped on to them. I then torched the bolts and the res where they thread in and i was able to turn them out after that. Here is whats left of them
I cleaned this up with a scotch bright wheel on the dye grinder after taking this photo
Here is the old style two bolt flange on the stainless headers... sooty in there
Old and the new. I know go ahead and make fun of my hack job on the old DP lol
You can clearly see i had a bad leak on the top where i had a hard time welding.
and here are some pics of it on the car
You can see the extra O2 bung with the plug installed. I'm going to use this for a wideband down the road
Awesome job....man! Looks good.
Amazing how replacing a pipe clears up 5*+ of KR and I'm sure the car is mucho better at WOT now.
I say it sounds great now because it had an exhaust leak prior LOL. And it is AWESOME. Other than deisle pickups and semis this is the first forced induction car I've driven. I don't think I'll ever go back to NA unless its for a daily beater car
