So before I did the lifters (with the assumption that this was the problem) I had previously drained and filtered through the oil looking for anything but mainly bearing material. I didn't find anything. Last night I borrowed an oil filter cutting tool and cut the filter open. Glitter and small bearing pieces galore! So this engine spun a bearing just like the last one. FML.

how do you get small bearing pieces when there isnt any "bearings" in the motor just "bushings"

I suggest buying a junkyard motor, not touching a dam thing and just drop it in and go

    Bearing

    Bearing

You say bearing in your own post...

    BUSHING!

We got that straightened out now? And this was a used engine and I basically dropped it in. Replaced a lot of the gaskets (oil pan, LIM, coolant elbows) and I put in a shift kit, solenoids and filter/gasket in the trans.

LOL I know what a bearing is, what people call it, and 2 cars that have done it. I think there is also a screen on the oil pickup so any "pieces" wouldn't be possible, but anything is possible.

"I" dont see them as bearings because to me they are not, wheel bearing is a bearing.

You call them bearings in your own post. You were just trying to be a smart ass and put me down and it didn't work. The screen on the oil pickup would only prevent pieces from circulating back into the system. They can drop straight from the connecting rods and journals into the oil pan.

And this is a grand prix forum where when we refer to bearings in an engine, everyone knows wtf we are talking about.
And come pull the trans lines. First of all, the car is parked in the garage half taken apart, second, when I hear an intruder in the garage I'll "castle doctrine" your ass! Oh yeah, I went there! Lol

So I got my new (used) engine all installed. I basically used most of my previous electronics exept for the ones "built in" to the engine i.e. knock sensors and crank position sensor. My question is, do I have to do a crank position learn procedure when I start this up? I'm thinking yes but just want to verify.

It came on. I did the learn procedure which helped the engine run better but the light keeps coming on. I'll hook up by Bluetooth scan tool and get the code.

So here is the other issue I'm having that I'd like some opinions on. The car has been randomly "dying" while driving. The idle will also fluctuate up and down at random while stopped. The rpm's don't go higher than idle but they drop low as if the car is going to stall. Again, this happens at random. Otherwise the car runs great. Battery connections are good. Vacuum lines all seem to be intact and in order. Spark plugs and wires check out good. Only issue I found there is one of the "cells" on the coil pack is loose. I can't tighten it down and I think it might need to be replaced. I have a spare coil pack so I might try swapping that out if it might be the cause of the issue. My other thought was fuel?

Sounds like a bad crank sensor to me.

I've done a lot of reading on here about spark plugs but I'm going to post here to get some opinions. I am currently running AL103's gapped at .055. New Stock plug wires too. My mods are FWI, slightly ported stock TB, headers/downpipe, catalytic delete, rear o2 delete, egr delete, LS7 lifters, opened up air flow in the LIM and blocked the coolant passages, 180° thermostat, tuned PCM, TransGO shift kit. I think that's all. So am I good with these plugs or should I run something different? I'd like to do a pulley drop in the near future but it's not in the budget right now. I can always change the plugs again when I do that. Thanks for any help/opinions that anyone wants to offer.

103 is to cold for a stock pulley. 104 would work ok down to a 3.2-3.0 range.
