So I used to have a 99 red coupe that I loved. I broke the tranny, tore it all apart and lost interest in it and sold it. That was back in 2005. Well fast forward to 2013 and I found this beautiful black low mileage 2004 CompG. it had 67,000 miles on it and I got it for pretty cheap compared to some prices I saw around my area. Well of course as it always seems to be my luck, everything looked great, the test drive went great, the second money changed hands and my plates went on the issues started popping up. I made it 5 miles, pulled in for fuel noticed coolant pouring out, popped the hood and the top coolant elbow was broken. So a NASCAR style coolant elbow change in a gas station parking lot ensued. It ran home without issue after that. Then I was checking out some blower motor issues and I had my power probe under the hood and watched the voltage drop to 8.5 volts. So a new battery was in order. I figurd out the AC problem, blower motor, and cooling fan problem. Three fuses were blown. easy fix. Then it was a mobil1 oil change bc the old oil was pretty nappy. Then I noticed I had 5*KR at wot so I figured a tune up was in order. So a new set of plugs NGK TR55s. That reduced it down to 2*-3*. It ran great but felt like it laid down on the top end. I figured it had the original fuel filter in it just like the original plugs so I went to buy one. I got a pit in my stomach when I had to fork over $50 for it, then the guy explained to me that it had an internal regulator or whatever and it made sense. I also figured a new air filter wouldnt hurt, the el cheapo one was $15 and the spectre drop in was $20 so I went with that bc Im not sure what I want to do with the intake yet so this will work for now. The new fuel filter made a huge difference it dropped all my KR and it no longer lays down on top. I was amazed bc it didnt really run that bad before. It has 18" rims on it, the front tires were pretty bald and the rears were terribly dry rotted, I found a set of 50% goodyear 245-45-18s for $80 on CL and had them put on, money is kinda tight and Im not sure what I wanna do wheels and tire wise so this will run it this summer. The P0420 code kept tripping so a pair of non foulers were put in place to hopefully keep that at bay. That brings us pretty much up to date. Future mods not neccesarily in this order are 180* t stat, ZZP wires, power log (got a line on one cheap on CL), catless DP, SLP cat back, overkill or intense pcm, maybe a pulley. That will take care of her for the summer. heres some pics all I have for now.
