Yep, all kinds of fun stuff with these head units. You running Torque or anything on yours? If it's the AN-21 U (it looks like it) OBD2 BT won't work unless it has a BT6 module in it.

did you go with the same one? And i already have an aeroforce so no need really for torque, but would throw it on my phone if anything. I was reading on the droid forums they were making roms for it to work though

This is the one I have, but they have different "faceplate" options so they'll fit into the dashes of various vehicles.

Torque in some cases is faster than the Aeroforce, and it'll sound alarms through the stereo speakers if you want it to. For example I set my KR limit to 5 so if I ever get over 5* of KR it says "Caution: Knock Retard high" over the music. For music I use Poweramp, with Viper4Android installed (requires root), Navigation I use Sygic (these units are accurate to ~3 feet), and that's about it. Rooting these things really gives you a lot of options. Make sure you get capacitive touch (multitouch), I didn't and it's my biggest regret.

Is it certain ones that come with the capacitive touch? And i just don't know what I am doing when rooting and would that link allow me to get torque to work or no because the bluetooth? Thanks a lot for the help both of you

When you order the unit it'll say resistive or capacitive touch screen, get capacitive. On that specific model (AN-21U) it needs a different BT module (inside the head unit) to support the OBD2 protocols. On mine I'm running USB, which ends up being a tad faster and puts less drain on the battery when the car is off. Depending on the unit you look at, it may or may not need that special module. You can see my OBD2 adapter on the bottom left of this pic:

Now I am stuck between the two! I like the look of yours better, but also like bluemagic's because it's not all touch screen which makes it easier when driving

That's why I reconfigured the steering wheel controls to be home and back, along with track ahead, volume, and all that BS. Torque opens first then Poweramp opens after it so if I want to see Torque I just hit the back button on the steering wheel.

I like the way the plasidip looks on this car. Red just secretly has a Plastidip fetish so he over compensates with hatred.

You are confusing me on all this! Lol we need a thread dedicated to teach me and others looking at these head units, or i should just get the cheap one thats not android based lol

I really don't it has its purpose.. Good on interior trim as long as it's black.. Wiper blades, Just to many douche nuggets like Magicblue gets carried away using it in everything and using bright ridiculous colors at that.. Poor mans paint/powder coating too bad it's looks nothing like the above.

Unfortunately it's not really that simple, every one of these head units is different, and rooting them is different 99% of the time. There's newer and better units out these days than mine, but I'm sure there's an XDA thread on every unit out there these days, lol. My (and most) unit come with a remote and you typically need an adapter to make the steering wheel controls work with an aftermarket head unit (Android based or not). These adapter's basically turn the steering wheel controls into a remote, and you use the aftermarket head unit's remote to "teach" the adapter. On mine I just taught the adapter to use the Home and Back button on my head unit's remote. That way when I press the buttons on my steering wheel, the head unit thinks I hit the Home or Back button on it's remote. I can take a video of how I have mine all set up this weekend if you want, but I'll post it in my build thread. I don't want to whore up Blue's thread anymore than I already have, lol. He might arrest me or something.

You can PM me with questions or post them in my build thread (click the picture in my sig), and I can answer you there. Blue PM'd me awhile ago and all my PM's ended up being deleted (long story), but it won't happen again, lol. Sorry Blue.

So if it was painted it would be okay correct? Lmao. I just think you have a secret obsession for bland monotone colors lol. To each it's own 😊
