The short stick finally arrived and I was able to get around to installing it today. Total time for install was roughly 20-30 minutes and was pretty straightforward.

LSS and shift ball being installed:

    Stocker:

    Remove screw in cubby:

Pop up console and unplug TCS and power windows:

    Remove console:

Pull up on the corner/side tabs and lift shift boot up:
    [

Slide cotton up to access the 2 bolts to remove:

    Remove stock handle:
I did this by prying on each tab just enough to slide a toothpick in there and then I was able to easily separate the two.

    Factory vs. LSS:

Attach LSS handle with supplied bolts and lock washers(making sure handle points towards driver

    Slide cotton back over:

    Install new shift ball:

    Reinstall console and enjoy:

Huge difference over stock and shifts feel much smoother.

Not questioning your install or anything just making an observation. Why is it that it was installed against the rounded side of the shaft on the trans, vs putting the shifter lever against the flat side and running the bolts the other way? I would think if you could it would make it a little more solid on the way its bolted together, and would put the shaft a little further back from the dash.

    Again... just an observation/question.

I thought that was odd as well, but the factory shifter was installed on the rounded portion and the instructions said to bolt it on that way. I posted the same information over on ls1gto.com and haven't been called a dumbass yet so I assume that's how everyone else did it. LOL

I suppose it could be done that way as well.

    As long as it works.

I was just looking at it and was like... that's odd. So I scrolled back up and was like wait a second.

Thanks! Gonna order a few small things this Friday. Spintech axleback, blue reflective "GTO" bumper inlays, blue "GTO" overlays for the engine covers.

Getting the GTO ready for the Pontiac Southern Nationals on Sept. 7th. My plans are to enter it in the stock class. It's gonna be odd not having the GTP there since I have entered it the past couple of years.

Also planning on ordering some 18" Enkei GP5 wheels in the not so distant future:

When I removed the stock exhaust I realized I failed to pick up some gaskets. They are on the way to my local parts store. In the meantime here are the removal pics and a video clip:

    Pic:

doing some touch up paint right now to get it ready for Pontiac Southern Nationals. I'll try to have one up by this weekend. I'll have to go back and mess with the hangers. Seems like its off a bit.

I think it sounds good. It's not obnoxiously loud, I can still carry a conversation in the car and there's 0 drone. I'm sure this has a lot to do with still having a stock setup from headers up to the axle back. The sound is more exotic as opposed to a deep grunty V8 which LS2's are known to have. At idle its a tad bit louder over stock, but doesn't crave attention. Almost as though it's in stealth mode. Lay the hammer down or give it a quick rev and its a different story. Honestly, I think it sounds very similar to the video I posted.
