I've decided on starting a build thread for my GP, so here goes!
It's a 2000 GT that my father bought in 200? when it had about 40k miles on it, now it's reading along the lines of 94k. Before being passed down to me he had a shop weld on some Flowmaster mufflers and some better looking tips to the exhaust system. He's rolling in a 2008 Porsche Boxster S now.
Since I got my DL in January this year, I've been looking into buying a lightweight, rwd Japanese sports car to go drifting in. I've always complained about the Pontiac's automatic transmission because I love driving standards so much more. No matter how much I've tried to convince my parents to sell the Pontiac so I could get something that fits me better, they wouldn't budge! So here I am stuck with the 'ol family car.
Over time I've grown more attached to the car, but the big reason why I'm turning this thing into a project is a drive through the mountains with my friend Eric (Corvette C4), and a small car club (Viper GT-S, '06 Mustang, Corvette C6, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8). I pushed the Pontiac on this drive harder than ever before, somehow keeping up with all those V8's! It was easily one of the best days ever, embarrassing Eric and his precious Vette was priceless. With the new found respect for the 'ol four-door, I've decided being stuck with it for now isn't the worst thing in the world.
Just a couple months later, the old exhaust has been replaced with SLP's PowerFlo cat-back system, and a K&N CAI sits under the hood. I'm going in the direction of turning the car into something that really deserves that GT badge at the end of it's name. I'm turning the family car into a sports car!
