I'm planning to rebuild my engine now (if it IS rebuildable) I am thinking of using the L32 rods in the build. My first question is- what are the pros/cons of changing the compression ratio? I need to choose btwn 8.0 , 8.5 , and 9.5
for reference I have an L36 block with ported & polished heads, GT1 cam, 1.7 rockers, LS6 springs, Manley retainers, Viton seals, and standard valves. Headers, CAI, solid motor/tranny mounts are already onboard. I plan on going to a CSC eventually, but for now, I am happy with running N/A

im dumb. but from what i understand you will want the highest compression ratio you can for N/A. with that you will run more stress on the motor though. with a high compression ratio, you will also need to run premium fuel.

    Chris..
It's not the camera, it's that no one ever told you how to capture a spun/bad bearing that well. Your vid, being mostly idle sounds pretty good overall. However there's a few hints of the bearing starting to go. Easiest way to get the vid and show us what you are hearing is to start the car with the hood up. Walk over to the engine and give it a quick rev to about 2-3K rpm and let right off. Almost like you'd give a quick rev to a ricer etc. The knock won't happen as much on the upside of the rev as it does when it comes back down.

Welcome to the motor club. Since Jason posted, I'm sure things are in the works and he has a plan. If you guys need parts etc, holler.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

It's also getting worse by the minute. I nearly made you a vid last night. One arrived that has the same issue.

As of right now, my plan is to drive down to Harrisburg and trailer it back. I've got a couple high mileage but awesome running L36's at my disposal that we can shove in there to get it drivable again. It's up to Chris now as to what he wants to do.

Always keeping my eyes open for one. Not planning on doing the supercharge for a few years, so i have time to search. But if I can't find one, no big deal, I still love my car

Well good, because here's an update for you on the engine stuff. Started working on it yesterday. Basically just pulled the engine. Got a couple pics too.

I do believe that the drain plug is not supposed to look like this. Lots of metal shavings.

And the engine is out. Today, I will continue the tear down to get all the fun stuff off the engine...cam, rockers, heads, lifters...you know. I plan on washing down everything in a parts washer and inspecting everything for signs of wear. FYI, if it looks damaged, it's not making it back into the new engine.

That was just a stock cam that is literally useless other than decoration or making into a lamp.
