That's some good outside of the box thinking. I'm all about farming. Farming being the act of making something work when you don't necessarily have "proper tools" to do the job, a bit of thinking and planning can make it happen.

I'm still getting my butt kicked by this cold. Wheezing and coughing sucks. I spent maybe an hour on the job. Did the flex bolts, inspection cover, starter, started the fuel line conversion and spent the better part of the hour looking for parts that didn't come in yet. Tightened the diff to engine bracket bolts to the diff, motor mount nuts, oil level sensor, front and rear knock sensors, catback connection...few other things. Started to get sidetracked.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Two big problems 1) Won't start 2) I replaced the oil level sensor the big 1 & 1/16th sensor by the oil filter. I tightened it up real good which was a nasty challenge to big with and oil is spewing out of there. Not sure how much more I should give'r on the sensor?

thats the low pressure sensor. also where you would hook up a pressure gauge.

the ones i have used had thread sealant on them, you just need to snug it up good, its not going anywhere. i used channel locks to take them out and back in. no room to play with a wrench.

I thought I read somewhere that thread sealant was not needed... I didn't use any. I got a socket on it but I am having to use a fair bit of force.

we are talking about this sensor right? if it has not sealant on it, i'd give it a wrap or 2 of Teflon tape.
you dont need to bury the threads, just make it good and snug.

OK I am totally screwed now. Tried to tighten it up a little more and it got really easy. I backed it out and there is metal everywhere. Trashed the housing threads. Of course, getting to that housing is impossible now. Feels like I pull the motor again (not happening) or I pull the passenger axle. Really depressing man, been working on this for weeks. Might just take it to mechanic & bite the bullet.

How hard is axle removal? It will piss trans fluid everywhere right?

i said snug, and you dont need to bury the threads, but nooooooo........that does suck.

axle removal should be like nothing at all, if you have the pass side jacked up higher than the drivers side. i lost like maybe 3 or 4 drops when i did mine.

a lot more fluid comes out when you take the pressure sensor out lol

im not 100% sure but the ones i picked up looked like they had tapered threads, meaning they got fatter towards the top.

also had a fat red ring of thread sealant on it, so it stopped in the middle of the sealant, so i went a tad more and thats it.

i blew 3 of them things out, so now i have a brass plug in the hole blocking it off completely.

It's NPT threads. FWIW that means they are tapered and seal themselves.

Holler if you need an adapter. I think there's one on the shelf.
doing the job isn't easy if you leave the axle in. It's doable though. Personally, I suggest you pull that axle and have access. Clean that gasket surface like you never want to go back into it. Which should be easy ...since you just changed it.

Little side note on my swap project: extended the: maf, o2, swapped/extended map, swapped all injector pigtails etc etc. Filling with coolant found the end cover of the LIM loose. Pulled TB to fix. Fired up and it tried to rev past 4k. Pulled TB to use thicker/better sealant (no wonder why previous person with this setup had it gooped with nearly a full tube of RTV. Now the IAC may be pissy.

I am going to see if a wreckers locally has an adapter with the sensor already installed so I don't have to mess around with it again. Thanks for the offer though. I cleaned the mother loving stuff outta the surface before dropping motor in - new gasket as well. I currently have the passenger side tie rod disconnected, I should be able to break ball joint loose (new LCA's) - tap axle from knuckle to free it up, yank knuckle out of the way & let axle down. Take block of wood & hit base of axle (that should pop out the clip) then remove?

So had to get my butt in gear with the car and with my work schedule I ended up getting her towed to a mechanic. He got it finished up & I drove it home...

It lives with an off center exhaust
