It should, being that it won't sense any daylight, but i don't know if there will be any secondhand effects.
won't just think it it's dark outside and therefore turn on headlights and the parking lights during the day
yes. but you can always just turn them off.
nice car! love the color (for obvious reasons) looking forward to seeing where you go with it
Thanks man, i do dig the color. I don't think it will look quite right until the windows are tinted and the rainguards though. I dig your SE rear bumper. I have been thinking of swapping mine for one like yours when i do exhaust. I'll have to see where it goes though.
Sell me that intake! I'll love you forever.
And the car looks great. As for the TEP and Cartuning kit, don't we all..
Other than that, it's good to see another GXP owner modifying on here.
I would if i had a spare, i love it too much to let it go though.
Thanks man, you don't see too many GXPs running around.
I was gonna do a shift kit or poly mounts next, but it looks like my next mod is going to be the fix evap system mod...
My poly mounts (the square and round) are getting here tomorrow and I can't find a good write up. Do I need to support the motor at all to install these, or can i just pull the dogbone out?
The poly mounts from intense got here today (square AND round). Here's a couple pics of them installed.
The round one was easy to get in there, the square one was a little worse but not too bad all in all. I don't have a vice or anything like that so i just worked the stock ones out with a screwdriver and a razor blade. It was done fairly quickly. I gotta say that they look great under the hood. I took her on a test drive and it IS a little more rumbly but it's not bad like I have read in some places. I think it just makes the car feel more like a V8 if that makes any sense. The only time that the rumble gets to where you can REALLY feel is is when you brake hard. The throttle response definitely feels better though and all in all, I freakin love them.
Mounts are a great addition.
Downshifts will feel very snappy now.
i am looking for a shift kit for my 07 gxp can you help point me in the right direction
Intense sells one and TEP sells one that I know of. I plan on going with the one from TEP: 4T65E Shift Kit Combo Kit
Sorry for the long time b/t updates, I've been a little out of the net. Since last time, I've replaced the evap canister solenoid, the camshaft position sensor crapped out and I had to replace it the day before a 900 mile road trip. Also, I finally got around to installing the tranny cooler. The process was fairly straightforward, and I'm having great results. I've been worried about the transmission lately because, the operating temp would usually sit around 210. 2 days after the installation, i set out on that 900 mile trip (mostly highway miles) and it never got above 179 the whole trip. For the most part, it ran between 154 and 163 unless I really got on it or was climbing lots of hills. A 50 degree drop at cruising speeds is more than I thought I would get.
Sometime during the trip, though, a semi must have kicked a rock up at me or something cause when I got back, I noticed two small spots side by side on the hood where the clear coat has been chipped off. It is driving me crazy. My insurance is gonna take care of it, but only if its over $500 to fix. Any ideas of how much it will cost? I'll post pics if needed.
IF the chips arent that big, I would not worry about it. Wait until the hood gets worse. I am betting your insurance will go up a little if you have them fix it.
Or, just fix it out of pocket.
I was thinking of just maybe covering it up with vinyl, like doing racing stripes or something. I want to get the inferno hood later on anyways.
wait until you get the inferno hood, file insurance claim, have them paint inferno hood
You realize most insurance companies won't cover the cost of aftermarket items right? Some however will allow you if you pay a few extra $$$ each month to cover a lot of aftermarket parts but that all depends on a) The company b) what insurance plans you have or whats available c) insurance adjuster. Just pointing this out so he's aware of the potentials.
If you haven't found a solution for the drl's...try pulling the fuse. idk could be different on the gxps but thats what i've done.
For the rock chip..I honestly wouldn't worry about it..it eventually happens to every car and with a DD it increases. You could just have it repainted once the hood gets bad and then apply a clear bra to it.
