I'm assuming that you are scanning for knock? The reason I am asking is I was surprised to learn on my stock 04 gtp I had 6 degrees of knock. I would have hated to see what I would have had if I droppeds to a 3.5 pulley. Of course I didn't have any mods at that time and I see that you have a few. Do you have the most important mod anyone can have? A scan gauge for knock?
Yes sir my very first mod was a aeroforce scan gauge I scan KR and my O2 daily...completely stock my car had about 5 degrees of KR after the downpipe it dropped to 3-4 degrees...got a custom road tune from a friend of mine which eliminated all of my KR...now with headers intake and 3.5 I have about 2 degrees tops and that was with it pretty darn heat soaked on my way home...it is tuned pretty lean so prob going to rich my PE a little and add as much timing as I can get away with...the headers will do amazing things for you so if you want to mod or even just have alot faster car skip the DP and go straight to headers or at least get a Plog+DP combo then with a good tune a 3.6 could be about right...I am going to get a cam someday when the wife allows me to spend the money so thats why I got the headers...
Yeah. Headers are the way to go. I did have the plog and dp and just put my headers on yesterday. like alot of people on these gp sites we start off with a few mods and then the next thing you know its hard to stop modding. Have you been to the track with that prix of yours? Stock my ran a 14.6
Yeah I think I am done with engine mods for now...in the process of buying a SUV for the wife so don't really have extra for car mods right now...Have you dropped a pulley or got a tune yet? I am prob going to dyno tune it here real soon...I have not ran it at the track im scared of blowing the trans with to much track time
I have a 3.25 mps on er right now. I just installed my i/c with alky so I am going to drop to a 3.1 and see how she does. I have a 2.7 and a 2.55 so long as the knock stays away.
Nice man I bet it real fast
It;s a long story but in short. The shop that did my heads the first time did a really poor job. With street tires the best I could do was a 13.2@ 106mph. I kept blowing off valve seals burning oil and could never get rid of knock at certain rmp ranges. After a tear down this summer I discovered a broken valve guide and all the other ones were beat out pretty bad, So off to a different speed shop. Had the heads redone. This time I am confindent they are done correctly. I set them up my self with propper lifter preload and all. I then installed the headers (like yours). Along with the FS I/C setup from zzp. I still have a few more things to hook up and then I should be ready to turn the key sometime next week. I went with a duel feed alky to my lim instead of a single feed behind the maf. I will post a photo of the setup for the alky. It's got all the goods to be a real fast gp but that don't mean crap untill you go to the track and prove it. I am hoping with street tires to be in the low to mid 12s and trap around 115 or so. I was disapointed with my times and speds after my first build I hope I'm not dissapointed on this 2nd try.
Nice post up a video when you get it running...as of now I will prob just leave it alone prob retune it again but other then that prob will just be my dd for awhile...might do some visuals of course
Are you doing all your tuning with a power tuner? I have a power tuner but just am not confindent enough to use it. I have a afc 2.2 that I'm not afraid to make adjustments with.
My friend does all my tuning needs using HPT he lives about 4 hours away so its not super convenient but inlaws live same area so I have a excuse to go there more then less...would like to buy my own HPT but don't have the money right now
Hey bro since you have a Gen 5 like me, how in did you go about taking the stock SC pulley off? Mine looks like it has just a bare nub as opposed to the Gen 3's screw hole.Did your stock pulley have a nub too and how to remove it when changing pullies.Thanks.
It has a plastic cap over the threaded hole...I used a local guys pulley boys puller without any issues...took about an hour to swap out including lots of chit chat
Yeah its just a little plastic cap will have to pry on it with a screw driver to get it out...when you buy a MPS then send you a new cap or at least zzp did
Buffed and cleared backup lights and ordered some aftermarket OEM type headlights since mine are leaking and look like crap! Going to vinyl some things real soon!
Installed new Headlights, Hid's, Valve Cover Gaskets, and washed waxed!
