Thanks guys, yeah, it's been up to 210, a little higher when it was hot a few weeks ago and I took it for a drive, with AC on it jumped, so killed AC. Going to order a GM Coolant Temp sensor, I replaced the sensor with a Dorman, so it's possible the numbers may be off just because different sensor and I'm worrying about nothing. There's no slippage and trans locks up nicely otherwise I might be scared the TC could be cause?
Took it out this morning for a few runs, 60*+ outside temp, coolant 185, trans 197...
I over think things, but really don't want this build to go bad too fast... Lol

It's never been consistently over 220, and I don't have alotta faith in the gauge, tbh.

Is just crazy cause largely due to my last build seizing, I'm listening to every hiccup and over checking everything. I know the stock transmission was never this hot... But I agonize over it when I know what to do (cooler), lol. Guess it's the procrastinator in me.
Appreciate the replies!

Ok, well, got together with my buddy finally (he's been crazy busy) and he TIG Welded my exhaust! Had way too much stuff as I ordered parts to replace what was there, but he customized it, reducing the number of joints, is awesome!
So now I'm truly 3" from collector to tail... Stainless bend post collector, Nice Vibrant double wall stainless flex, HiFlow cat, VBand, I put in the two Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonators I had waiting too... No DRONE, but a beastly rumble!!! Those Hooker Maf-Flow's are the shyt!
No pics/vid (thank photobucket), so you'll have to take my word ; )
Next will be Trans Cooler

Lol, yes, I've seen it and followed his thread... I saw a bubble in my paint, and poked my finger right through. Then it just grew and grew, lol. Knew the that was there from the pinch welds beneath kinda disintegrating. Is gonna be a PITA for sure. All just depends. A few grand to fix, or find an Arizona car and take a few weekends to swap it all to a rust free car. Which I'm sure would require some repaint and such as well. Eeeeehhhh!

Rust damaged my car pretty bad. If I could do it over again I would have looked for a minty, rust-free shell. It really depends on how much other rust there is. How are the metal bumpers looking under the covers? How much rust underneath the floor pan? Also rust where the trailing arms connect and of course strut towers. Hows the rear sub-frame looking? If many of these areas are showing rust, fixing the rockers is just adding a few years to the inevitable.
To fix the rockers, just the rockers, shouldn't be more than $1,000.
On the other hand, if there's someone that can do a full swap it's you coolone. You just did it like 6 months ago, iirc. When of the engines you had shyt the bed.

It just boils down to one thing, does the particular car mean something to you, or do you just like the body style. That will be your answer.

Lol, yeah, could probably get engine/trans out in under 2 hours if I had to. But it's not just the engine/trans... It's all the other accutroments that go along, ie, fuel pump rewire, brake calipers, stainless brake lines (lines, not flex), TRS halogens, stereo system & speaker rewire, etc. Makes my head spin just thinking about it. If I can get rockers done for $1,000 that's worth not tearing it apart, I also want to re-spray the entire car and have all the little dings removed, so that'll add too. All in all, it will depend upon the estimate...

You do grow a personal attachment when you've spent hours upon hours with it... And other than rust, is clean as hell (interior) is spotless and the sound system I put in Rocks!

Actually the paint sux, lol. I like the Galaxy Silver that is on my SE (son has now). The galaxy silver seemed to hold up better, but the SE (260,000 miles) although running strong, is suffering the same rot.

I hope you can get a good estimate man. I'm with ya... Wouldn't want to do all that work over again. Inner rockers for this car are unobtainable from what I've gathered. If those are gone you will needs those fab'ed up. And... If those are gone, then likely the floorboard is suffering some rust damage as well. For the outer rockers, buy some from TABCO and rock on man. Call them though and make sure they have them, don't do it online, or you might end up waiting one month+ like I did. My welder said they were surprisingly well made.
Any rust on rear strut towers?

Strut towers are clean, some bumper frame rust and the lower radiator frame is rusted as well. The bumper frames can be blasted and sprayed. The radiator frame is replaceable (last I looked). Lol. Thanks for the heads up on the outer rocker. I opened my rear passenger door yesterday and was supposed how much the rust has grown

Well... It's been a while. The beast is still with me. Runs great. Haven't fixed rust yet, lol. But haven't been driving her much lately though it's sad... Really is a beast with the 3" exhaust lol. All stainless now throughout. Sounds great, etc. But she's getting old...
Test drove a BMW M240XI... Little rocket! And now getting pressure to sell off the GTP and the boxes of parts I have accumulated over the years. Not really sure if I will... My son is selling off the GP down in VA that I gave him and he put another 100k on. Same issue, runs great, interior perfect, clean, but rust... Got an estimate of $5k to fix/paint!
Anyways, just wanted to stop by and say hi!

True, and hard to understand... I will probably keep the car for a while, but might sell of the load of parts first. That'll keep the wife happy for a little bit.
Is weird, from DD to every time I take it out now, is like meeting a long lost friend! Damn thing is so fast on hwy too... 60 to 90+ in blink of an eye! Hahahaha, and of course the whinning of the SC never gets old!

Nice car.
I am a N54 guy with a 2008 535xi,I'm poor.
MHD is a great app, so is XHP. They made a huge improvement on my car.
You will be rust free for years.
My GP gets lighter every time I wash it.
