welcome to the family bro.
Found more "mods".lol The exhaust is seperated a little bit at the front of the cat, one of the hubs went out (trac light always says off and I think the ABS one burnt out or something), and the Fiberglass hood is for some reason more or less decaying on the inside (as in the hood is starting to seperate a bit and chunks of fiberglass has fallen out of the little crack.
Real mods include what I believe to be an upgraded PCM. The one says Delco on it however the car never gets above 180* and the fans stay on for and extra 180 seconds after the car is shut off. I am not sure on any more details of the PCM (I am sure I will find out as I go) but thats is what I have managed to figure out.
So how much work is installing a new hub and how does the exhuast hook to the front of the cat? I would crawl under there except we got snow on the ground and the side skirts offer little clearance for my "oversized" head.
Hub is pretty easy. I think there is a how-to. Exhaust your better off taking it to a shop shouldn't be but $50 to fix it.
the pcm you would be able to tell if you had a way to scan your car and see if anything is different than stock. I'm not sure on the hood.
Ok I also just went out and measured my pulley (was searching for a vac leak and figured what the hell) and it is a 3.5" pulley....so how much theoretical power should I be making.
what other mods do you have? an intake im sure but is that it? If so i'd say 210ish whp
Alright so on the window the regulator was not broken but instead the adhesive that held the window in place on the regulator had failed and allowed the regulator to move without the window. So just minutes ago I put adhesive on it and set it up to see if that fixes it.
Window is fixed and as far as I am concerned it isn't going to snow so the front end has been put back on! I got before during and after pics. All that was changed was the bumper and the headlights with brand new junkyard ones that I still need to adjust.
Before...
During...
After...
Yes yes I know the bumper needs some help but I can't do anything about it until I figure out exactly what color it is. So not only are the headlights clean but the are clear cornered
Get the factory bumper painted and keep that on there it looks a lot better. I like the clear corners.
put a factory body kit on it then and that'll fix that real quick lol
Ha then I would have to go get factory tail lights and factory five stars too and that gets expensive real quick. I mean, how often does one find nice tail lights at the junkyard? Also the front bumper on there now is junk. Its all scratched and rippled. Don't get me wrong I love the way these look stock but I might not get to keep this one as it might go to my little bro. If I don't keep it I will definitely be trying to find another GTP to mod out myself, well minus all the fancy appearance mods except for the headlights and maybe a hood. lol
So after a very stressful tire changing experience today I am going to be sourcing out some factory skirts and back bumper from the junkyard. Reason being is that the pinch weld on this car is rusting out to the point that I have a hole about 2-3 feet long between the pinch weld (and on it) to the edge of the undercarriage (so its about an inch wide). Which is now making jacking the car up a pain in the butt because I have to bust out two jacks so that I can get the car up so that I can jack the car up from the frame. So plan is to get factory ones, pull the body kit off mine and make repairs, and possibly sell it (unless my bro wants to keep it) for go fast parts if it ends up looking nice enough. I know alot of you are happy about the swap and honestly so am I, but having it be from rust is not the way I wanted to to go down. So until I start taking some college classes for automotive and probably some welding classes now so that I can fix this, it will remain in this condition until that point.
If I can find my camera I will take some pictures of the rust and pictures of the progress. Fyi the paint will not all match until my brother can scrape the money together for either the correct paint code or enough for me and my friend to try and do it with his gun and compressor. Luckily I already have a front bumper for this car and it has racing stripes!
Long time no progress but the car has been parked all winter and is now just a week away from falling into my 16 year old brothers hands, and for that occasion I have just left the side skirts completely off the car until he can get the rust fixed on it.
Yesterday we got the LIM job done in about six hours after a rainy start and a couple of breaks to get some more parts. Decided to do it after the thing overheated on him the other day and thank goodness we did, the inside of the upper rad hose was filled with black crap (was replaced) and the rear gasket was leaking all up the valve cover and had a pool of oil in the cracks. Also the most unusual part for me was the fact that when I yanked off the tensioner assembly that the heater hoses connect to, the plastic coolant elbows didn't break apart on me! They were however still replaced with aluminum ones since the o-rings were junk and were leaking. The thing is also going to need a new oil pressure switch since the current one is leaking oil all over the bottom of the car but that's a project for another day because in the meantime this thing needs a new sway bar bushing bracket.
So once the sway bar bushings are taken care of, the new tires get thrown on, and the oil pressure switch is taken care of then this thing should be doing pretty alright!
