oh man. eye hart those gp's.

Finally got the back end rust done! Looks better than I imagined it would. I took off the GTP badge to sand more, and I think I like the badge better off.
I did 3 coats of the black spray paint, and 2 coats of clear coat. Then wet sanded it all down, and did 2 coats of Meguiar's polish and one coat of Meguiar's wax.

(You can see the spots on the garage floor from the oil leak. This picture doesn't do it justice at ALL, she is so shiny that the stuff from the reflection makes it look like a crap paint job!)
Not bad for a total car noob, first time ever doing auto-body work, and all by myself! Besides ordering Andrew to help sand down the rust to make it go faster. Though I did 95% of it, because I didn't want him wrecking my car.
i was gonna say the thing about that being a bonne console. they were really advanced. gm has some tech stuff goin then, my 91 toronado had factory touch screen gps..in 91. wish they put half that effort into there cars anymore
lookin good! you know what look good on our gen? different exhaust tips. ones that are dual tipped. you may not like it, but just throwing it out there.
LOL that is getting close to next on my list! Still trying to figure out how to go about that exactly. I am sure I will need my step dads help on that one, since he has a whole set of tools I could use.
I love the stock ones, though the double dual exhaust (that's what I call it) would look sweet too. I am thinking after I work on the body, and put my cold air intake in, the exhaust is next.
Neat! That last one is like dual ricer fart cans. Out of all of those I am liking the stock ones most. They fit the shape of the car the best. The stock ones from the newer grand prixs are sweet, but I don't really care for them on the generation I have.
bodywork came out good man. nice job! i would go with maybe some z06 looking tips? like what i posted below.

Yesssss! Are those ovalish? I think double-dual exhaust with more ovalish tips is what I will do, if I DO change the stock ones. That will be next summer probably.
Kinda ovalish ya. check ebay man there is thousands of exhaust tips on there
OK. It's been awhile since I updated here. I blew the tranny a week before Christmas, and after searching for a new car, I realized I was better off just getting a new tranny in her. Plus I couldn't let her go.
I bought a used tranny with 100,000 miles on it. Last Saturday I got the engine pulled out, and I will be rebuilding it as well! As we were pulling it out, we noticed someone had already sealed up the oil pump drive with RTV. The oil leak was coming from both my head gaskets, pretty bad. I can't WAIT to rebuild her and be driving her again!
I have pictures that I posted on Facebook and w-body.com. They are crappy cell phone pictures, for now.

Ugh thats terrible luck. But it seems like it was blessing in disguise
See now you had a reason to tear it apart and fix the motor up. Always feels good to have a "mini" overhaul.
Now your all set
Btw. Working on car an black paint don't mix.
Watch those cords and what your wearing. My fenders have light swirls all over and I used fender mats.
If you're still planning on doing some exhaust work i do have to recommend double dual upswepts. I cut the stock ones off my 97 and replaced with dual upswepts and couldn't be happier. They project the sound upward and actually make it a tad bit louder from behind. Sorry all of my pics are junk. I will have to upload some later
Meh on upswept tips.
Glad to see it's coming along fine...perfect time for headers and ported top end!
Swap in 5spd too
Yay, DOHC fun.
^that....all of it
LOL, I won't be doing any crazy mods to it. The transmission can't handle any mods, and of course it's impossible to find a 5-speed. As much as I would love to..the only thing I might do put a 2.5" down pipe on her. MAYBE change the muffler tips if find something I really love, and of course tint those damn windows! Was thinking of tinting my tail lights too, and definitaly tinting the reflectors around the car. Anways..
I got dirty again today! Tore the engine apart finally. Yipeeee!!
Timing belt off..all the black fuzz is from the old timing belt. It was getting chewed right up.
See how nasty the old gasket was? Glad I ordered new ones. In the picture above this one you can see how the oil pump drive has already been RTVd up.
We needed a special kind of socket to get at the other head gasket, the only one he had was broke, so we ended it here for the night.
you're gettin there...this thing needs....rocket fuel and cheetah blood![]()
