So its been a month since anything happened. Figured I'd throw a solid bump and tell you of my disappointment. Not in the car, but myself.

I'm a lazy ass.

It's true, no matter how much I don't want to admit it, I am. Its a curse but its mine to bear. I should have taken the time to wash and wax her more but alas, I didn't. Aaaaand now I have to reap what I seweded.



Over the weekend I noticed these spots. Washed her just a few days before but no solid wax treatment... since the spring. Its been a rather cool summer (avg 10-12* cooler than it was last year) and I didn't think anything of it, but now I'm stuck.

Sooo I now have an excuse to get a SLP Spoiler (Gen 1, I like the whale tail). I refuse to have this one sanded, re-painted, and whatnot just to replace it later.

I know, its not that bad. Its a 15 year old car, 120k now, should have expected this at some point... but it just aggrivates me. I know once the clear bubbles and flakes off its just going to spread and get worse. So blah, not happy. But its news.

My decklid started doing that last year, I found a lid from a 99 and swapped it, though both spoliers are in great condition.

Now just my roof is peeling clearcoat, which is gay. But nothing a big ass vinyl wrap can't fix in a few weeks.

Yea the roof I would wrap, the spoiler and hood I plan to replace with upgrades at some point. I have gotten nervous about body panels doing the same. I don't want to have to repaint the car due to messed up clear. This next weekend I think she is in need of a good bath and some pampering. Just to be sure.

So the weekend was eventful. Worked on a friends 3000GT VR4, didn't realize a bad starter was a 4 hour job to replace. Silly Japanese circus monkeys and their tiny hands decided to put the front converter/downpipe in the way so that had to come off to get to it.
Idiots.

But before that, I did some work to the garage.

With a couple decorations and the lights on. GF got a boo-boo in the process, she smelled something burning and went the lights and touched one to see if it was hot burned her finger pretty good. I laughed a little, told her not to touch them again, and then babied the finger. Final result in the garage was this.


Turned out pretty good. Lights are nice and bright. Finally happy to have a neat workbench that I did myself. Total cost was only about $100 for everything, $75 of it being the shelf set.

Soon will come the disassembly of my old L67 motor from a couple years ago, the supercharger will get a nice P&P job, some new paint, and likely some new bearings so it won't make any more racket. YAY.

So still having issue with getting Torque to offload the videos to my computer so I can upload one, but I got to playing with everything yesterday and got a screenshot. Not too happy looking back on it.

Not exact science or anything, I had to drive to Mexico to do this (as it would have been illegal to do this in Texas/Oklahoma) but this was about the end of 2nd, 5300rpms (+/-), 90mph.


Notice the KR on the high side, @ 5.8, that hit at the beginning of the pull when it downshifted. Sometimes it rolls a stead 1-2* with a little boost, sometimes I see it spike up to 5-6. Haven't seen it hit a 6* or higher, but this bothers me with it being on the stock pulley still.

I know I need a new coupler, its not the obnoxious "Bag O' Marbles" sound, but I can hear it getting there. Good amount of play when rocking it as well. But that will be fixed when I change blowers. Spare is in the works of getting a port job and probably some new bearings/seals and a coupler kit just to be safe.

Would a bad coupler cause any KR or would I need to look into a exhaust leak?

I suppose it could be the DHP 1.0 tune on it, but I would have to swap PCMs back to see if there is any difference, and likely there would be just because the stock cars are known for a little. Would be worth a shot tho, I suppose.

Ideas?

So, had some spare time, figured I'd make use of my newly built little workbench and tore into the old supercharger.

Got it pulled off the old motor, and grabbed the oil sucker, and a old bottle to put it in.


I'll be dammed if the tube wasn't too big to fit in the hole. Yes, that's what she said. Forcing it didn't work either.

Had to get creative, no picture of my technique.

Broke the seal for the snout and let it drain for a couple days. This was ingenous.




Was alot more after 2 days of draining, but I didn't feel the need to take a picture. I just got excited and tore it all apart.



Poor rotors, all nakey.





I didn't get any good shots of the rotors edges so this will have to do. Coating is about half gone, but the edges are still clean, not really burred or anything that I could tell.

Case insides are grooved, but that's normal. Not as bad on top.



Bottom is worse.

Porting and polish for the inlet, but the outside is going to get a black wrinkle paint job. I love the look of polished blowers but I don't think I'm up for the 30+ hours of sanding required to do it.

I can't make up my mind whether or not I want to replace the needle bearing in the case or not. There is a little movement in them, but its a 80k blower and aparently had a rough life for that 80k. I know I wasn't gentle for 20k of it. but I don't plan to replace the rotors so I don't think it would be worth it really to replace the bearings. Plus I don't have access to a press to put new bearing in.

My plan is put new bearing in the snout and a new seal, the shaft makes a slight grinding noise as you rotate it and it was fling oil from the pulley so it needs a seal. but the case is just getting a P&P job by me and some new paint.

So over the weekend planning on taking a short road trip up to Missouri so the GF can see her sister. As with any road trip, I do maintenance checks a couple days before and yesterday I decided it was about time and a good time to rotate the tires around. During the process I noticed how dirty they were and needed a good cleaning. It had been a couple months since I did the last top to bottom clean, been just rinsing and washing most of the summer to keep her clean so the inside the of the wheels were kinda nasty.



Notice the finger prints, that was just from my grabbing them as I went to rotate them. Yukky.

So I cleaned a spot off, ignore the scratches, these wheels have seen much better days and need to be sent off for refinishing of all 4 wheels.





Compare between dirty wheel and Clean wheel. Big difference.

After I got the car clean it was dark and couldn't get any nice shots. But maybe today after I get off work before we take off.

Also... went over the 120,000 mile mark.

When are we actually going to receive a real update?

Once I get off my ass, port the other blower, rebuild it, and slap on a hub and pulley. So 2-3 years from now.

i really like the first wheels you bought, you think they still around online for purchase somewhere?

Last time I looked, they were available in black in a +24 offset for like 18x10s. But the whole set has long been discontinued and they are VERY hard to find.
