I never really understood the way they did the 2JZ motors turbo design. I understand the setup working like it does. but why not do 2 mid-size turbos independent of each other like they do on most v8s? they will only put down 15-20lbs of boost but the air mass they move would be equal to or greater than 1 big one. Then boost up the numbers and move more air and its out doing the single big turbo being fed by the smaller one.... or is my theory incorrect ???

Look at the manifold situation and how the motor is orientated in the car.

Sequential was an attempt to reduce turbo lag, because it was THAT bad back then.

basically twin turbos are good for off the line punch but lack top end duration for the most part.one big turbo may lack off the line punch(lag) but has superb top end and thats what wins races, top end.

    This...is very flawed.

I'll let you read it again.

But I'll point out a couple things...

Twin turbos are also used on very high horsepower diesels...like I stated...one smaller one spools the larger...they server a purpose. Also, unless it is over worked...no turbo really "lacks" top end.

To end...top end doesn't win races...that is the last thing you think about when drag racing. You want 60 foots...traction...correct gearing...so many factors. Your not out to get the highest trap speed...and if you are, your doing it wrong.

Ok i agree with you on the 60ft and traction, but you can have awesome 60fts all day and your low end torque will serve you well until the last half of the track then you crash, like our cars(stock).thats what i mean by having good top end it helps a lot. And what i said about turbos was "FOR THE MOST PART".

how can the ins co make you take this car or that car, tell them you want a check for vehicle replacement, the Blue Book value. then go buy what ever you can/want with the check. never heard of that stuff.
