I'm interested.... Would this secret setup work for a pair of 10's or we talking just a single?

Nothing secret about it. Knowing that trunk space is a premium for the family etc I had good success with the setup I did.

Look at the rear right area behind the tire in the trunk. It's mostly a wasted space. Using cardboard to make a template I figured out dimensions and made a box using the glue etc. Once built, it fit in that space so snug that I never screwed it in or bolted it down. I went with a single sub that IIRC was a 12", might have been a 10" though. My setup was pretty simple and worked well in that it was all Boston Acoustics that bolted right in to factory sizes for front/rear speakers, amp was a 5 channel inverted in trunk with sub on rear right. Did a pioneer head unit with a backup camera and enjoyed it for years. On an amp, make sure if you consider bolting to the bottom of the rear deck that it's rated to be oriented that way.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I do remember seeing that box now. The placement is perfect. I just need to decide if a single 10 is going to be enough bang for mama...

Ask Scott...I think besides bonking his head off the dash with a test of the brakes I might have shown him the stereo. Had enough to easily feel it throughout the whole car. Of course if you do the sub, you need to pull your car to 10000000 pieces and mat it.

That sounds not fun. There is a very low probability I will be doing that.

    Got a package today:

Not sure when they will go on, but I'm sure it won't be anytime soon. It was 108 degrees for most of the day today. Still need to get the valve springs. I plan to also do the valve guide seals and valve cover gaskets at the same time.

Mine was easy to pull apart because I bought a good body with everything else as a project. Even the headliner needed to be swapped. Tint guy got the car with nothing in car but one seat and shifter lol

I don't think this car has ever been apart. All the clips and pins are still intact on all the panels.

New rear speakers in. Only tried them out enough to make sure they worked. Wife says they sound much better. Saving up for a new head unit. That's next.

Headers are in. Got a pretty good smoke show once the wrap heated up.

We'll see if it makes any difference with the random KR I get.

The Regals take well to a double din head unit. Make the wife happy and consider putting a backup camera on at the same time. Theres tons of room to run anything you'd like to.

Does that have the Monsoon system? Kinda doubting it as all those speakers would blow in record time. Think they were 2 ohms as well.

The one I have spec'd is a Kenwood, and I believe it's a double din. Pretty sure you can add a backup camera as well.

Nope. Base model garbage. I gave her a hard time for blowing one of the speakers after driving it for only a month. Honestly, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner and to all of them. The were all super crusty when I pulled them out.

Car needs to go back in the garage this week. The clamps at the Y-pipe didn't hold and it blew apart. Probably try to fit a couple of "TorcTite" band clamps in there and scrap the ones that came in the kit.

Frozen boost used to have the best pricing on those clamps. At one point I was installing so many headers I was stocking the darn things lol. They are very good clamps at the best pricing.

On the wife blowing a speaker, it was probably from your weather constantly beating down with such heat and no humidity. I don't think there was a speaker in my Regal (Monsoon) that was any good. Even if you replaced all the speakers and nothing else, I bet it sounds better. That could even be a slow upgrade plan, do the speakers first with the ones you'll want. Then down the road (cause winter is coming) you could do the other pieces depending on how far you are going with the system in it.

My plan differed from most others because I knew any system would be better than any that I had previously had. I also considered trunk space to be a premium and aimed to use as little as possible for amp and sub. Hence why I did the upside down amp under back deck and amp in the corner where no audiophile would do it.

An easy upgrade is the alt from I think a Park Ave or Police Impala. Memory is fading as I age, I think it was something like going from a 104amp to a 130amp. My local JY had the alt for some silly price of $10-$20. At the same time I tossed a second heavy gauge wire going from alt to the top of the fuse box. Maybe not ideal, still can feed back to the battery since it's main connection is at the same post.

Thank you sir. Like Johnny Cash... One piece at a time.

Band clamps are on. Wife's been driving it for almost a week now. Still good and tight. I have a lot more faith in them.

New problem. She popped a P0420 code. Going to try a non-fouler before I turn the light off in the tune.

Non fouler worked like a charm. 10/10 would recommend.

In other news, I found a set of MINT pregens. No corrosion, no curb rash. Not sure when they will go on, but I have them when the time is right. Did a quick little mock up before I put them away.

Fair enough. I hear you. Sometimes you have to use the common vernacular so that people know what you're talking about. Call it a core plug and nobody knows. Call it a freeze plug and everyone thinks, round brass press in plug. What can you do...?
