just picked up an 01 GTP, plan to build new engine and trans and do it all together, the plan is to get an aluminum subframe solid motor and trans mounts and build it all on the subframe a arms and all and lift it up in place of the factory setup. thoughts? car runs and drives great now just wanna go all out with a new setup go from this one to the new one in a weekend when its ready to go in. any input would be great, pics coming soon

I'm in for the action! It's nice to see fresh builds on this platform. Sometimes I feel all alone. How are you planning on getting the engine in? You have a lift or just gonna hoist the car up over it?

I would save the existing engine/trans somewhere in case the new build blows up so you at least can swap in a known running drivetrain.
What do you mean by "build a new engine and transmission"?
What are your HP goals for this? Staying on the Gen III blower or ???
What's the budget look like for this build? (always remember to multiply by at least 2)
Great to see someone take interest in building one up again but we'll need way more details on your plan to help us guide you in the right direction and get you where you want to be without having a ton of issues.
Don't forget about the rest of the setup. You want to go faster but what about brakes/suspension? Are all of the bushings/struts, etc. new~ish? Impala/F-body brake swap?
I'm not trying to deter you from the build but after all these years I've learned that you need to have a solid base to start with that will support your plan. Pretty much building it backwards from suspension/brakes/trans then the engine.

will most likely keep the old setup on a pallett somewhere just in case, planning to get a lower mile engine stripping it going with forged internals and aluminum heads.
Trans is gonna be a built unit not sure where im getting that yet gotta look into that one
horsepower goals arent set just building it with the best i can find and seeing where it goes.
Budget is also not set probably going to spend way too much on it
plan to go with that TVS labarge system posted on this forum
had sever in high school always wanted to build one just never had the funds until now so i went out and found one for a project
brakes will be upgraded rears fom zzp fronts will be ctsv on front, bc racing coils, tubular a arms, strut tower braces, upgraded sway bars front and rear. plan to eave nothing untouched underneith.
