Really haven't even given it a name yet (Edit: Kinda been calling it Grumpy lately. It can be.. temperamental.) CL find from Midwestern Minnesota. This was the last car to look at after a two week search. I'd looked at an 04 comp g in the area, but it was in pretty rough shape. This one has 133k on it now. Haven't done much. Changed supercharger oil, old looked like coffee. Put synthetic in and run 91 non-oxy. Fixed the HUD and gutted the airbox.

Went and bought rubber right away. 235's are waiting for rims, and you can see they look cartoonish on the stockers. American Racing's may be goin on eventually. Biggest thing planned is getting new paint, but that'll be after we get a house. Going to put headers on first. I'll be refreshing the brakes (chose powerstop calipers and R1 eline rotors) and suspension, but nothing fancy.

I tried to show some of the paint and rim damage on it. Don't quite think the guy knew what he had and got away with it fairly priced. There was a bunch of dealer records inside. Looks very well taken care of; Guy paid nearly a grand changing 4 tires and 2 wiper blades back in 2010. No record on LIMs unfortunately. I've found inconclusive answers on when exactly GM reformulated dexcool without the organic acid, but it'll be flushed anyway.

There's some dealer options. The spoiler, grilles, and exhaust tips are GM parts. The paint's interesting (read expensive). Blue Green Crystal by Pontiac came on a few other GM's under different names. Definitely wouldn't mind making the front end look a little beefier. I'm still hopeful to get an SE front lip.

    Thanks!

$3800 for a 3800 seemed like a square deal at the time.

LOL, good price. Nice find also. I would recommend getting the chrome interior pieces and that will tie it up nicely.

Thanks! The color shift on the paint is more apparent in the door jams. The body shop guy I've used before has a place in the background of the first picture. See that RV/Truck lookin thing way back there? Gave me a good price on the work because it goes on one color. Actual can of paint though, that's another story.

I won't be hunting for low ET's, just going to use a set of Yella Terras, headers and a tune. I can hear a little wear on the outer M90's drive bearings. I'll probably drop pulleys when it's off for service.

A link to the paint code if anyone wants it. Cheers!

Here's some of the stuff I found in the glove box. I tossed the used sale tag from the $8900 price to $8000. I bought it off the second owner that put on some 22k miles. He tried to fix the paint at home and lived on gravel, but otherwise took care of it.

It also appears the second time the same dealer sold it, it picked up a MPG. This car truly is magical.

    Glovebox Goodies.

Original sticker, plus sale price. Managed to squeeze out a mpg, lol.

    Nice car.

I am still scratching my head on the horizontal paint failure.
I havent really seen any with that, usually comes from severe neglect....or a 3m green pad for cleaning. Those scratches are bone chilling

Yeah, I dunno. It's rather common to see a hood like that up here. People let em slam shut with an 30lb sheet of ice on it when they decide to check fluids with the days high of -18 degrees.

That's just the hood though. Only thing I can think of is that it sat in the sun most of its life in MN. The dash kinda showed it when I did the HUD, even though it looks clean.

Thank you! A few things on this. I checked for codes and it's showing me it's never had the engine light on. That's gotta be good.

Here's a couple pics. I threw Taylor's on instead of Delco's because I wanted blue.

Edit: There's a need to refresh the suspension badly. The trans will get a Trans-go, PCS and flush (hope to delay a rebuild). Brakes will either wait till they go or be a winter install. The other stuff I'd like can wait like the trailing arms, tower braces, etc. The snout bearings are noisy, but not alarmingly so. The needle bearings might need lube. I'll be taking another look when I change belts here this weekend.

Old vs new. (Airbox is cut out and drilled in top photo. Idea was to pass a quick inspection)

(I put this cone on later)

    Cheers.

On the dual aeroforce, I got an idea for you...

Double DIN aftermarket head unit adapter. Should fit right where the storage bin is now, and you don't have to cut up the original...in case the driver's side vents are easier to look at while doing a pull.

If you want a little bit tighter suspension than the stock, while you are "refreshing" it you can always upgrade the sway bars and LCAs... Look up overkill motorsports, there is a wealth of knowledge on the 3800 w-body tech page.

I'm taking a few pointers from there myself, and the part numbers listed there are a godsend. Lol

I looked at the A-pillar thing, not sold on that based on preference. I hadn't thought of the double DIN, so that's another option. Basically, I planned to find some flat plastic and see what I could do to just fit it over the storage and figure out hiding the cable behind it. I'd really like to get it to fit without adhesive or at least only a small amount of removable sticky, but I'll have to wait and see.

My parts list is missing rear pieces. I had priority on fixing that worn ball joint by getting MOOG LCA's. I'll be doing the rear later. I've had the BMR front braces before, but I guess the rears don't fit 04+. I've read the rear trailing arms from them really liven it up as well.

All in all, the work up front is huge. Dropping the cradle isn't something I've looked forward to during research, but that's being done sometime. Honestly, I don't feel totally satisfied with only putting in a Trans-go or an intense kit in. I think that being I'm going in deep anyway, might as well take that side cover off the trans and pray I don't bust those clips on the harness.

And being it's that far apart anyway.. headers? It's a ways off and s*&^'s gonna end up piled in the garage, so I got some time to plan it out and get the right tools/info etc.

Lol ours look to be about the same in terms of what's starting to wear out And what both of us are replacing/upgrading....

Biggest difference being yours already has a supercharger, and mine is sitting in my basement. Lol

And I was talking about the air vents in the dash. I can never get them to actually point air at me, so they are doing nothing.

I flushed the rad and put in Peak non-sta something with a big rig tractor on the bottle and a pink cap. I ordered two elbows from Oreilly, and the girl looked at me like I was from outer space, and proceeded to order two individual elbows instead of the correct two that come in the same package. Of course, I got in there and one was $!(&-ing wrong. Luckily NAPA was fairly close.

Also: I really, really like stealth mode. The deer were crazy thick earlier this year.

Here's a video from about 25-70mph. I wish I had a vid of just the gutted box for sound, but this is the new cone filter.

    *Video still pending new host*

I'll take some pics of the gutted airbox just to show what it kinda looks like inside there in a bit. Have a good one.

Edit: Here's those pics I'm not sure I ever put up. I used a Dremel and a blade-type drywall holesaw for the hard to reach cut(s).

Here's the two cuts I couldn't reach with a Dremel. Then I didn't clean up those rough edges because.. why?

Found out a cone fits in there from WarStryker. Thanks!

I'm really liking the blue, it fits perfectly with the paint.

You still have the oil neck? lol

I should post up my old gutted airbox, it looks like it was manufactured tha way... I'm sure somebody in Cali could use it to "look" unmodified.

I made some friends behind the counter at O'Reilly's, now I just walk in and they call over the shift manager. lol I give him a part number and he just asks what my next modification is lol

I haven't made the leap to an old sock just yet, lol.

Really, I'll probably change it out sometime. I decided with blue because of the paint and I see lots in red.

    I'm getting anxious for September.
