2005 grand prix gtp fans come on at 220 or so have a code reader attached I know this is normal in park from what iv read but on the gauge this just looks hot to me. Read though info I read one guy changed it to 205 for his fans to come on. Any one point me in the right direction on how to do this. Iv read a lot on tuning for my eclipse gsx iv had a long time. pretty new to the gm world.

you need your pcm tuned for the lower fan settings.

water boils at 212 degrees ... condensation builds up in your oil. higher temps get rid of the water that's why they have the fans come on then. if not you have watered down oil. if you wanna run cooler then you need to change your oil more often. no more 7500 mile oil intervals.

Coolant will boil far above 212, it doesnt matter if the coolant reaches 212 or not. The moisture in the crankcase will boil when the oil gets hot enough, the coolant doesnt matter there. It will take that heat and spread it around and cool off in the rad.

But like said, you'd have to have the PCM programmed to run the fans sooner.

hp tuner would do the trick, and more. not cheap tho. good thing is it can be used on many cars and new cars too.

Don't really need it for my others I use dsmlink for them
Is that normal for the car to get up to 220 ish in park with no a/c or heat on? just seems high up on the gauge its over 3/4 the way up. Iv got new coolant t stat coolant temp sensor and pig tail iv bleed the air out just to be sure its not something else.

yeah, its normal for a 04 up, they fans are set higher then the older years for some reason.

theres also dhp for just under 300, its free to use after you buy the interface. support ends with 05 with dhp tho. it does cover a lot of w bodys tho.

Funny cause im going backwards and trying to tune my Spyder and need stupid tactrix cables and what not.... Looking at the software vs HPT, I would choose HPT all day or at least a DHP
