When I would run my car I would usually hit the performance shift button but never really payed attention to it. I did today and noticed that without it activated the car shifted at a higher rpm from 2nd to 3rd can anyone explain?

No idea, maybe it's slipping a little.
But the previous post kinda says it, with it active it make the shift happen quicker so there isnt as much time for the rpms to rise between the transmission picking the next gear.
