I just registered for the forums here. My name's Rob I'm 29 yrs old..live in northeast PA and work selling modular homes for a builder. For a bit of history my first car was a 79 olds cutlass supreme. It was white and rust in color and the bumper was held on by a bungee cord. The best part was the backs of the bucket seats were wrapped in plastic and from sitting in the sun the red turned to pink. Bright pink. But the car never let me down. It drove to the junkyard with 350k miles on it. My next car was a sweet 85 Grand Prix. It was shiny black with the big chrome grill, red pinstripes and red interior. It had the 5.0 with the 4 barrel and an automatic on the floor. I absolutely loved that car. The tranny was shot so I put in a TH 350 and It was so much faster. I was 19 at the time so I didn't take care of it like I should have. I always took care of my cars but when I was younger I burned the tires etc. more often. After 2 years and driving it all through the winter the trans blew again. Getting stuck in the snow a few too many times and rocking back and forth is what led to it's demise. Around this time I went on a 2 year hiatus and traveled around the U.S. While I was gone my mom went and signed the title over to my ex's dad and he sold the car to a junkyard. I have yet to see an 85 that looks as nice or one that has the 5.0 instead of the v6.
Someday I hope to find another and restore it.

Fast forward many years later. I just bought an 04 Grand Prix GT2 last week. I loved the way it handled and felt on the road on the test drive. Plus the acceleration was pretty nice. Just felt like a fit so I bought it. I ended up here because I was looking for other people having HUD issues. After messing with the HUD and trying to get it to work I noticed I could only see it if i slouched down in the seat and looked through the steering wheel. I found someone saying the same exact thing..they said it was a spring disconnected from the mirror on the HUD and you could see it if you look through the windshield. Sure enough I looked through mine and there's a spring laying there not connected. Seems my moon roof is acting up too. Motor makes noise but the window does nothing. So I found the forums here and decided to make an account. Well thats enough for now. Glad to be aboard and glad to be back in a Grand Prix

    Thanks
    Rob

All i had to do to fix my hud was hook around the plastic that was there. No glue needed and it been like that over a year.
